Marathe stepping away from the USA arm of 49ers to focus on us, and the ground redevelopment, and his smaller part at Rangers.

Has to be good news. After all that time in yank football. To give it up to focus on Leeds.

He certainly isn't my favourite guy on the board at the club. I would much prefer Lowy, who is a Leeds fan. 49ers fans don't seem one bit bothered that he's left either. Reading some of their forum comments, they say he's not great at negotiating and has put players on terrible contracts.
Obviously, like us fans, we are in the dark on what really goes on, so they could be wrong, I guess, but they certainly are glad he's gone.

Ditto, LAD, re Marathe. I too would much prefer Lowy to be our chairman.
And, yep, I also read today some 49ers pundits and fans peeps. Fairly unsurprising opinions of Marathe, none too complimentary. They were re negotiating player contracts in particular.
He was at 49ers though for 20 years.. a very long time!

It's strange how things get interpreted in different ways. I have just watched tonight's match on LFC, and they were waxing lyrical about what a great thing it was that Leeds were part owned by the 49ers, and how one of the most respected businessmen in the NFL, a guy who has 20+ years embedded in player recruitment and contracts, was now responsible for this at Leeds.
Who would know, hey?

If only we could hire and fire chairmen in the same way some would like with managers, eh?
