Who would be your top transfer targets for this summer? These are my preferred targets although they are highly optimistic.

Left back - Tagliafico. Reportedly available for £13-18m. Personally I think City will get him, but Bielsa is a draw to an Argie!

KP Mid role cover/ CM - Koopmeiners. Reportedly available for £13-20m. Bayern's new gaff is apparently interested, so as I said: very optimistic. He is a CM/ DM who can also play at CB. He is a decent penalty taker and a captain.

CM/ AM / - De Paul - will cost £35-40m, Udinese will probably not negotiate on the price. I don't think I need to say anymore on this.

ST - Aguero. Free transfer. Why wouldn't you want one of the best ever PL strikers? Make no mistake Aguero can pretty much choose the club he wants to go to, but as he is coming to the end of his career does he see himself going into coaching/ management? If so surely he would want to learn from Bielsa?

The club will spend less than they did last summer

Hopefully they will get very good players for very reasonable prices like they did with Raph

For me the team needs far more players who can contribute plenty of goals and assists

In order of priority 4 players

1) centre forward proven goalscorer

2) . Number 8 cm with goals and assists

3) Number 10 cam with goals and assists

4 ) left back.

Personally I don’t rate Koch (cue the innuendos) , so would plump for a centre back pairing of Llorente and Struijk. I would also select Dallas over Klich in CM all day long.

Meslier
Ayling Llorente Struijk Firpo
Phillips
James Raphinha Dallas Harrison
Bamford.

Master Bate sounds promising. I think he will grow in stature and come on well!

There’s only one United and Kalvin already plays for them!

Gummie. Can’t believe that orta and Bielsa hadn’t thought about the options should this happen. Angus Gunn was allegedly a target before joining Norwich. Can see someone of a similar ilk (keeper in mid 20s that can be improved by Bielsa) . Freddie Woodman perhaps?

Baz, do you not think that the lack of transfer funds has something to do with the Augustin case? Last time I looked we had lost but were appealing. £17m in transfer costs may well be due soon plus goodness knows how many millions in legal fees! I know Radz, Kinnear etc have said that it won’t affect our recruitment but £20m is a lot of money and it has to have come from somewhere.

I agree with George. We cannot understate how important Costa was for us getting promoted. Personally I don’t like him for Bielsa’s system; it doesn’t play to his strengths. He runs back to help defend but often doesn’t get tight enough to stop the cross. He would suit a team that has a solid disciplined back 7 and a more free attacking 4. He would then be able to use his pace on the break to exploit space. There would be lots of championship clubs that would love to have him.

Grant Hanley at fault for the first goal. Their midfielder that gave away possession was at fault for their second. Dykes should have scored at least two. Can’t see where Cooper went wrong? He jumped with Schick (Hanley’s man) to try and make it even more difficult for the striker. Didn’t work but I think he did the right thing.

He’s adopted the scouse mentality perfectly. Always the victim never the problem! The t-shirts were an opportunity for the players to make their feelings known against their owner’s decisions. They bottled it! And now we are the problem?

Completely agree BV. We owe Pablo the respect of letting him choose what he does with the rest of his career. Unfortunately his legs can’t hack the PL Bielsa style anymore. If he wants to move back to the Spanish team he part owns, let him. If he wants to stay here and learn his trade as a coach, let him. If he wants to be a squad player and help the younger kids develop, let him. The only certainty in my mind, is that he should lead the team out as captain against West Brom when the fans come back. He should not play the entire 90 so he can get the massive send off from 10000 fans that he richly deserves (for that Swansea goal alone! )
