LUFC and Alex Cairns have verbally agreed on a new two-year contract.
Fits the home-grown status and is great to have around the squad.

It's good to have the third choice sorted.
I want Darlow to stay, and think Perri is not a lost cause.
If we end up needing two new keepers, not sure where to go. Dubravka is a free agent and might be a decent second string.

Lovely guy to have in the dressing room, but genuinely don't understand this signing. I'm sure it was not expensive, but he will likely never, ever play, and, for me, it would have been far better to snap up the best young keeper around for me.

Looks like Dubravka is off to Spurs.

Dubravka to Spuds could be good news for LUFC fans.
.. Hopefully that might mean Darlow is now staying at Leeds, signing a new 2 year contract deal.

I suspect so, Baz, but MU are interested, don't want Onana back, and Bayindir isn't trusted. They bought a good one in Lammens at a decent price.
They've been linked with Sam Johnstone, but JD is a better keeper.
Hopefully, the offer from us will be competitive, and Darlow knows that he will get game time with us. It might boil down to whether he wants MU on his CV or to go out as a Premier League no. 1.

Yep, good post, Dune. I concur with your points.
Hopefully, Man U don't make an offer for KD.

MU may also make an offer for Shea Charles, so could stuff us twice.

Man Utd are more than welcome to SC.. but hands off KD.

Can't believe we're not aiming higher than KD for next season, he did ok, behind a very solid defensive line, but I wouldn't say he's better than any of the relegated keepers from last season.
If Peri is going or not, we still definitely need a new number one.

KD is a safe pair of hands. He did better than Ok, and, importantly, our defenders trust him.
Our recruitment team bought a dud number 1 keeper in Perri and spent a load of dosh in doing so, Class.

I kinda agree with Class. Darlow did well last season, but we still thought we'd bring in a top class keeper.

Won't be upset if KD stays, Baz, but I posed a serious question above: how many teams last season, including those relegated, is the respective keeper not considered stronger than Karl?
For me, he's an excellent back up keeper, although would have liked Dubravka instead, but Sunderland hit gold with Roefs last season, and history says keepers needn't be expensive.
I just believe we should look to improve the squad quality incrementally each season.
Good example, Wilson: higher goals and assists last season than our current midfielders.
As the mafia would say, it's not personal, it's just beesness!

I agree, Class. While every keeper will always have a howler / errors in him, KD certainly has more than a couple. That said, the main reason for needing better, imo, is his distribution.
If we continue to play from the back, which we largely will, it starts with him. He certainly didn't breed confidence in the defence when dithering on the ball, then dishing out hospital passes!
