If, the CBs are pretty much guaranteed then do we spend/ gamble big to oust an incumbent or maybe save a couple of quid and buy an experienced back up?
How about a move for Tyrone Mings?
A left footed CB, ex England with a contract expiring 2027 and valued at only 4million.

I don't think we need to spend big on a CB, assuming we keep all our regular first choices, so buying an experienced backup like Mings could be good business. I really like Senesi at Bournemouth, but he's more likely to be looking for a big name club and be more like £20-30M.
If Wet Sham go down, there's likely to be a bit of a fire sale there, and whilst all the noise will be around Bowen and Somerville, I rather like Castellanos. They paid £25M for him in Jan, and if we could land him for something near that he could be just what we need.

I think we need to be fairly careful. The medical staff have done a superb job keeping the team healthy overall - our squad has missed the fewest matches this season to injury (77 apparently) . Testament to medical, Farke's formation, and some luck there too.
With approx 120m to spend (net in Reading) , we do need some more depth. Also, don't be fooled that there won't be some bids for our better players. Struijk has had some interest, no doubt Gabby will too. Not that we want to sell, but we want to be ready to be able to if silly money came in.
That's how Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth have been so successful.
Mings, for me personally, is too big a name, and on too big a decline to warrant looking at seriously. I'd prefer to look at Doekhi or Adam Webster, who are both out of contract. Webster, admittedly, is on the back of an ACL.
Ben Davies, another we've been linked with for a while - he'd be a Byram upgrade/replacement as an emergency. I'd want another left back (Gabby clone) and allow Justin/Bogle to lock down right back.

Please, not Mings. A terrible defender, and gradually getting worse.

Senesi is a free transfer.

Allegedly, Senesi has already verbally agreed a deal with Spuds, subject to their PL survival, but Liverpool and Juventus are looking to hijack it, so he's probably a non starter. I'd certainly prefer Doekhi or Webster to Mings. Agreed, Ealing, we need to be prepared for offers for a number of our players, and deal with them appropriately.
My shopping list would be a backup LWB, a RW (Wilson?) , a GK unless we retain both Darlow and Perri, a CB (assuming Bornauw is going) , and a decent striker (say Castellanos if Sham are relegated) .

Castellanos is a good shout tho, Jr! He was excellent against us, and I believe he'd be a solid addition without breaking the bank.

I've been impressed with Mavropanos since Nuno arrived at West Ham, and would take him as competition for our core CBs, who have all had an excellent season and have probably attracted interest elsewhere.

Mavropanos is a great shout.
