Am I crazy in thinking that the Mudryk deal could be a great business deal? The guy is young and no doubt has some exceptional talent.

Yes, he has been out of action for a while, but apparently was training hard in the off season. Worst case, if it is a loan and doesn't suit, no doubt Farke would keep him out.
