40 million a lot of cash for a player with less than 30 EPL appearances?
City paid 27 million last season.

The damned United.
Damned if we do.
Damned if we don’t.

Corkey, mate, this is the world we are in now.

Progressing in this league is no joke financially.

If we want the best we can get at our level of standing, then those players are £30/50 million each.

I mean Shea Charles for £30m is wilder than Trafford for £40m.

I just hope the flaccid one doesn’t revert back to his 4-2-3-1 slow passing style.

I think that’s why there’s been no contract extension for him yet; the club are backing him with quality signings. If he has a bad start, he will be gone within 5-7 games, imo.

Some on here won't be happy at all with that kinda talk, Davey.

If he has a bad start, after 5-7 games, No one will be happy anyway! Same as any gaffer, Aus, if he doesn't deliver, he'll be gone, particularly with the reported incomings on the teamsheet.
If he continues with the trajectory from H2 last seez, however, he will rightly get a contract extension.

I like to think, or rather choose to believe that Farke learned his lessons the hard way last season, but I think it's right he doesn't nail his flag just to one way of playing, one formation, especially when we're up against the most gifted, tactically astute coaches in the world.

He needs players capable of playing in several formations, which may include 4/4/2 at times.

Bielsa ball was quickly nullified in the second season when opposition drove coach and horses through our middle to beat the relentless press.

It's not just formations, it's having better, more technically gifted players, which is the biggest differentiator, and I believe this window shows we're clearly improving on that front.

Fair enough, Class. Choose your victories, as they say. Meaning 4-3-3 v Cove and 5-4-1 v Gooners. A few of us mentioned this last season. imo he hasn't got the right full backs to defend. So, he has to be flexible. And, seeing there were thirteen teams above us last season, predominantly 5 at the back.

Come on peeps.

We simply cannot go 4 at the back with the defensive frailties of our current full backs. Overrated by some, Gabi and Bogle..

We defo need another LB signing choice and I would prefer Justin to Bogle at RB.

Justin v Bogle, a tough one. JJ was superb last season, so he edges for me. Good competition though.

City paid £31M for Trafford from Burnley, but, due to the sell-on clause in their earlier sale to Burnley, they got back £4M, and so in the end only paid £27M.
