Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle, Tonali gone.
Bruno maybe going.
Gordon gone.

They seem to be struggling to attract their main targets.

Could they be in real trouble this season?

Unfortunately, I think they will always have the money to survive. Enough to throw at any transfer window. But it would be nice for them to teeter on the brink, lol.

They only secured safety last season with all those players mentioned, with 3 games to spare.

I am surprised that Howe is leaving at this time, e.g., because of the timing, but was surprised he survived last season, to be honest.

Doesn't really matter how much money the owners have if they aren't allowed to spend it because of the ridiculous top 6 monopoly rules such as PSR & SCR.
To lose Isak, Gordon, Tonali & possibly Bruno would cripple any manager and team.

Agree, Dave, the chances of anyone from outside the top 6 money generating clubs winning the Premiership, unlikely unless PSR rules change.

Don't care where they finish. So long as it's below us.

Grrrreeeeat, intriguing, potentially very exciting news development!

Either

Eddie Howe for England coach job to replace Tommy Tuchel.

.or even much better, 49ers. Please upgrade. ?

Make the superior coach, Eddie Howe, an offer he can't refuse, to come to Leeds United as Head Coach to replace Farke.

With only one year left on Farke's deal, which both Farke and the 49ers side are unsure about extending, there would be a minimal payoff also.

Makes sense. Make it happen!

Sorry, Baz, but I would have to disagree there. What exactly makes people think Howe is so good? Toon have consistently underachieved under him, and he looked like a rabbit in the headlights at times to me. I see no reason to bin DF, and I have confidence he will continue to prove himself and guide Leeds to the top. Tin hat on. ?

Agree on that, Vid. Not that he ain’t better than we got. Just ain’t good enough. Massively underachieved with that talent.

I agree with Vid. Howe isn't bad, but he's meh. 49ers are buying into Farke, and the way he wants to play, with wide playmakers (Wilson) rather than Wilson and building from the back.

If Bielsa is still the 8.5/10 benchmark I can remember in my 32 years, Farke is a 7.5/10. No grounds at all to pull the plug on Farke.

My only grips are he didn't get us promoted first time (which led to the Cry, Geogi and Archie fire sale) , and being a bit obvious about who he doesn't rate (Ramazani, Schmidt, Gnonto) , making it harder to trade them.

He did a stellar job with us in seasons two and three though.

Interesting posts, Ealing and Davey. It's all about opinions. no need for your tin hat, Davey. ?

Agree with you, Ealing, about Farke's mess-up first season at Leeds.

Season 2 he would have messed up if he had not eventually dropped Mes.

Season 3 he was so stubborn about his formation that it was losing us games, and he was on the verge of the sack until he finally changed formation.

Defo a meh manager for me.

And not sure the 49ers are invested as much in Farke as you seem to think.

Davey, when Howe took over from Brucey, Newcastle were absolutely woeful.

Yet he won the Barcodes their first trophy ? in 60 years, within a few years, when it's in Newcastle DNA not to win anything.

Good managers such as Robson, Keegan, Dalglish won absolutely nowt with Newcastle.

And Howe finished 4th and 5th in the EPL in 2 of the 4 seasons.

Howe a far better coach, imo, than Farke.

Far more chance, though, imo, Howe becomes England manager succeeding Tuchel sometime between now and the next tournament than him becoming Leeds coach.

Not sure, Aus, how he massively underachieved. He was up against more powerful clubs with better squads.

Fair points in there, Baz, but as in life, it's not so much what happens as how you react that's important, and DF has certainly upped his game despite all the criticism and pressure he has endured. Don't forget you were barking for Nuno, who ended up somewhat less successful than DF. I often think it's not just about ability, you need a manager who "fits" the club, as you do players, and that is not easy to find.

Whatever you think of DF, there is no doubt he is totally invested in LUFC and has created a brilliant environment, and has, in 3 years, delivered on the pitch. His record is no mean achievement, imo.

With as much money.
Be honest, Baz. He was gone at takeover. Just managed to smile himself a few years.
Nice guy. Found out talent. Back to lower prem team.

I used to enjoy watching Leeds in the Championship, attacking style, with threats from lots of areas. I think his confidence is knocked from trying to attack at home and trying to pinch a goal away from home. It's very much risk and reward, and he has to be braver this year with the little bit of quality we have bought.

Still a ways to go though, it's a marathon, not a sprint, I hope he can establish the Championship days when teams were s*** scared of us home and away..MOT.

Isn't Daniel Farke "up against more powerful clubs with better squads", Baz, or isn't that allowed when you're pulling our manager apart day in day out.
