Seems a strange one when reports are we have a budget similar to last season, some saying as low as £70m, and all the talk, even from the club, is that we are focusing on the attack rather than defence.

I've seen we've enquired about Natan from Betis again, left-footed cb, 25yr old, around the same ball park price.



I wonder if the club know Pascal is going, and something is already agreed.

Otherwise, I can't see why we spend half our summer budget on 1 player in a position we apparently aren't prioritising.

Wishful thinking here, but let's say we've already lined up Wilson on a free, then we can afford 45 mill on this guy, and still have 30 left for a striker, plus a bit more for a GK or LB!

The 50M mentioned is Euros, which equates to about £43M. Still a helluva lot, but if, as some suspect, Pascal goes, we could hopefully reduce the net outlay to under £30M. I'd be quite happy to keep Pascal and instead spend big on a proven goalscorer or No 10, which are targets we repeatedly fail to hit, but time will tell.
