After watching that West Ham v Arsenal game I can have a certain amount of sympathy for them in how cruel and unjust it would seem the inconsistencies of refereeing and VAR decisions are in the Premiership.

However, the sympathy only goes so far for me as they did enjoy a relatively great success and a European trophy not so long ago with a coach in David Moyes who does undeniably have a formula, whether you like his football or not.

These situations can draw parallels with our own club in how many Leeds United fans wanted Daniel Farke booted out not only before the season started but also last November.

Stay humble and be careful what you wish for, I would say. Failure and the great decent down to the Championship is waiting there if you are not.

That would be me as one, and I still do. Farke has not had anywhere near the success boring Moyes has had. Silly comparison. And I would def still be reviewing the situation re Farke. If there's better out there, be silly not to go for him.

Just like players are dispensable. It could be argued that we should not sell any players or buy any because the existing squad achieved their goals. But that's not progress is it.

Great point, OP.

I definitely wanted Daniel Farke to start the season as our manager, and he thoroughly deserved that chance based on last season.

I did, however, want a change in January when we were woeful and losing every week, but then came that monumental game against Citeh, where Farke adapted and changed his approach, changed the formation, and played to the players' strengths.

Since then, we have looked every inch a very good Premier League team with minimal resources, so I applaud the board for sticking with Farke (unless it was just about money) , and applaud the team and Farke for achieving safety with 3 games to go, and playing some fantastic football along the way.

?

If we win 4-0 tonight, we go 13th! What?

Hopefully the 49’s now invest some serious money into the team to ensure my blood pressure remains in a healthy position! Europe next.

It’s a nice feeling having such a relaxed end to the season for once!

It's only silly for you, Aus, because you have always been so vehemently opposed to Farke. Even though he has won us promotion and kept us in the Premiership in our first season up.
Facts, mate, it's staring right at you. Why risk something that ain't broke, for the insecurity and the possible failure of another coach?
I can understand wanting to change your coach when there's perhaps an undeniable breakdown and failure in what he is trying to achieve.

There is a comparison, but you simply don't want to see it, Aus, but that is fine, before someone starts to accuse me of wanting to change another poster's opinion.

Well, we can always enjoy another season in the Premiership with Farke, but perhaps not everyone.

Let's keep the whole team then, Opti, cause they've done such a good job keeping us in Prem. Doesn't make any sense. Farke has weaknesses, even though he improved on his first half season failure.

He has done his job, so have the team. I don't think he will be replaced. I'm just saying if better credential manager comes available in our price zone. It should be considered. To think otherwise is blinkered.

Players seem to like Farke, and are playing for him. There is absolutely no guarantee, if we changed the manager, that things would massively improve. Long-term improvement in a club relies on lots of factors: players' respect for the manager, and, like it or not, money generated is the biggest.

I don't think even Pep would improve our team without the funding. Farke, in my opinion, has proved his worth to Leeds Utd FC.
Remember the so-called great Clough, excellent manager, worked out well at Leeds.

Agree with first paragraph, Mez. Best the devil you know, right. Let's just stick on 15. Bound to get a seven if we twist.

Q. Should we sack Farke - seriously!
A. No, not right now.
If a manager with better credentials comes available in our price zone, should he be considered? If we are not in a situation where we are considering a managerial change, then the answer is clearly still no. If circumstances change, then so could the answer, but, of course, the desirable alternative may not then be available, but that's life, I'm afraid.

In any case, the coveted alternative may turn out to not be as good as hoped, frying pans and fires come to mind - think Slot 2026 versus Slot 2025.

I think what Aus is saying is a very good question. The only problem is, who is out there? Nothing wrong with asking that question. Unfortunately, on here too many just can't wait to jump down your throat.

How you ever stay in any meaningful relationship must be hard. It's all my way, my view, my opinion, even those that leave saying they have changed. What. ?

Vid, not trying to change his mindset on Farke, just trying to understand Aus's reasoning on the subject, so far, I'm not hearing a good enough response to remotely convince me that it would make sense to sack Farke for a coach with perhaps a marginally better track record than him.
Let's be honest, an elite coach is not going to come to Leeds United.

Personally I would only want to see the back of Farke if his tactics aren't working anymore, and he can't or won't change them, or he cannot coach his players effectively anymore to improve themselves.

In my mind, that would be reasonable rather than knobbing him off only on the basis that another coach might have a slightly better cv.

Comparing improving on your coach is not the same as buying better players, not if the coach is already getting the best out of his players and achieving his employer's objectives.

Whiteman, I don't appreciate that you are trying your very best to convince others on this forum that I am doing my very best to change other posters' opinions.
If you take the time to read my posts, which you clearly don't, you will find I'm only making discussion with other posters' opinions.

Or, is that not a good enough reason for you that I post on here?

By the way, I have a very good relationship with my wife and family. Thank you for taking your considerations into my private life.

Agree Baz, great song. Used to put it on the pub jukebox when we were playing doms team games. Rarely lost a game of 5s and 3s when Frank was singing.

Yep, 'My Way'.. one of my absolute faves. I used to sing it with my Japanese colleagues at Karaoke bars when I was living and working in Tokyo.
Happy days!

Aus?

At the start of the season, plenty were waxing lyrical about how we missed out on some great managers and how we shouldn't miss out on an upgrade, e.g. Potter, Nuno, Postecoglou, Edwards, Howe, Frank. Goodness me, some were calling for Dyche in November!

Well, as time has passed, despite those managers having access to far more funds and arguably already having far better players, have they really achieved more than Daniel Farke?

Would any of those potential managers have assured us of EPL survival?

DF deserves his chance to move us on, which he has done each and every year he has been with us.

I asked you the question earlier this month before we were going to be flogged by Man U: who would replace Farke and guarantee us something better, who isn't completely fanciful or utterly unavailable? Perhaps you might answer this time?

I think that's where the conversation runs dry for a response ani4, in trying to make some debate on the Farke topic, posters like Whiteman just clam up and deliver personal insults.
Just confirms to me they don't have any credible reasoning to further the debate.
No point in continuing.

ani4ni, I believe the point was a debate on whether we should look at changing the management, and whether he has taken us as far as he can, which is a fair question. Anyway, it will be up to the powers above. For me, I think he should stay.

Who could replace him? Not sure, but no manager can guarantee anything, as proven by clubs who have changed managers only to come up against player power and lose their jobs. We don't want in / out in / out, like some on here. Move on. ??‍♂️

Excellent posts, lads.
I've always said if a better manager becomes available, then we should move on. That was earlier in the season when Farke was effing things up.
Now, he has improved many things, yet still has a few failures.
Sitting back in the second half when ahead is the biggest.

As for big-name managers, we can't get them. Look at Areola. He wasn't exactly a big-name coach, but has shown what he can do with limited resources and selling his best players.
However, I will admit Farke has done a helluva job in the second half of the season.
