I honestly believe and have said it before, we won’t be buying a striker in this summer transfer window.
That may come next summer as it seems we are consolidating our status in the Premiership by making our defense and goalkeeping as strong as it can be.

I still think also if our attackers can stay reasonable fit for most of the season then we might even over achieve.
My thoughts though are that we’ll probably finish in a 15th or 16th position by the end of the season, slowly confirming our status as a long stay Premiership football team, gradually improving our squad of players, season by season to eventually being a solid and challenging Premiership team.



It also appears that Daniel Farke is a very important part of that process and I do expect in the coming weeks that the club will enforce that belief in him by giving him a new contract worthy of his efforts and potential, which in my estimation he thoroughly deserves.

If that's the case, that is very short sighted.
If DCL gets injured long term, who is going to score the goals for Leeds? Let alone all the other stuff he does for us. He is in the top 5 and above in the Opta stats for everything strikers do last season, headers won, assist, pressing, etc.
With Piroe going, that just leaves men, ha?

The club are working on a LW and ST, but whether we land them is another story. Almost certainly a no.2 coming next, and potentially a LWB as well.

15th is indeed the aim, with anything above being a bonus.

Not convinced that a new contract will be offered just yet - maybe Daniel can effect that this year with performances, or maybe not.

We will see, but I think, if 9ers were fully confident in DF as the long term solution, he would have already been given a contract extension.

Interesting posts above regarding finishing place. Last year, we finished 14th, and should have finished higher in my own opinion, so surely we are aiming higher this year. We have added quality to the starting 11, and will improve the squad before deadline day. Which teams, apart from the promoted teams, in your own opinion, will finish above us, and why? Thanks.

I actually agree with OP to an extent.

I think if we were to get a Leao or Paixao, then Daniel would utilise Okafor as a 2nd or back up striker as well as a LW option.



However, if we don't secure one of those or similar, we will probably move for a striker.
Possible Ueda, Emegha, Delap!
The latter 2 would try to be secured as loans with options.

History can have a very nasty habit of repeating itself. Second season under Marcelo, PR Radz and co-owners, 49ers, foolishly failed to sign an additional striker. We then had long-term injuries to both Bamford and Rodrigo, and were having to play Danny James up front for large parts of the season.

Leeds were within a whisker of being relegated.

Defensively, I believe we are strong enough to avoid relegation this season. The larger money was invested in Tarick and Trafford, and we don't have the finance to add a quality number 9 this season.
DCL and Nmecha are very possibly our strikers for this season.
We will see.

Can't believe it won't happen, Baz. I think the 9ers get a lot of criticism they don't deserve, and not a lot of credit for their achievements. Saw an interview with Paraag on MIS, and the guy totally gets what it means to be Leeds, he seems completely committed and passionate.
