The amount of money the big clubs are spending and the players they are buying is frightening. You can’t see pass a top 5 in any order of Chelsea, Arsenal, Devon, City and Liverpool.

Have to pick formation and our battles next season, and focus on fortress Elland Rd and a few more away wins than last season.
Says we are interested in Delap. At what price though?

The story is that Chelsea want to make a profit on Delap, looking for more than £35m.
This just shows the state of the market when a striker who scored once in 28 games last season is for sale at that price.
There are some options in Europe who might come at a better price (and more talent?) , but I'd consider Fleming at Burnley.

He had a good season last year in a poor team, and can play up front or in a no. 10 role. The Brandt saga has dragged on too long. Fleming or Wilson could fill that role if needed.

Delap is a decent player, but at the right price - not worth £35m.

He was mostly bought on as a sub last year in a bang average Chelsea side, so shouldn't be judged on one poor season.

Delap started 12 in PL, and stayed on for the full 90 minutes in 6. He was subbed on in 12. Total minutes over 1100. 1 goal, and I think no assists. He has to do better than that, hence Chelsea looking at Welbeck as a short term answer to their problems.
The other problem with Delap is that he's on over £150 k per week.

I've touted Flemming a few times. Not only is he adept at playing 9/10 and the goals, but he's tall for someone who started as a 10 at 6'1. We've lost Pascal at set pieces. But the good news is Muharemovic basically is a like-for-like on that front. With Wilson in the door, he can take some set pieces, allow 6'4 Stach to get in the box more.

Depending on if we have two or three cbs, Muharemovic, Rodon, Bijol, Stach, DCL (who isn't exceptionally tall but has a good leap) , and potentially Flemming.

With players like that, you don't even need the perfect delivery, just get it in the right areas, someone will win it.

I'm very much growing to the idea of Fleming having a positive reaction at Leeds.
His goal ratio for a defensive Burnley was pretty good.
I can see Farke moulding Fleming into a decent weapon in the Premiership.
For the price, I think he would be an effective acquisition.
Not encouraged by Delap rumours, and don't think he'd be interested in Leeds anyways.

Aus - no specific, reputable stuff I've seen. It's wishful and headline driver sites connecting the dots right now. I feel like recruitment needs to get Trafford over the line first, figure out what Brandt is finally doing before moving on.

Maybe camps are touching base, but you have to know where funds are being allocated.

It might even be the case that us going for Flemming is contingent on not getting Brandt. Flemming can play 9, and his physique suggests he is a 9, but he is originally actually a 10, a bit like Nick Woltemade. Now Leeds might reasonably try to use him at 10 behind DCL and as DCL's backup.

I think Liam Delap got pretty lucky with his form for Ipswich, which made him high profile and appealing to a number of clubs at the time.

There are a lot of players who have a little bit of a good season or a decent run of games, and all of a sudden they are "world class;" their agents often make hay at these times.

[Who can blame them?]

He's big, strong and fast [or was for Ipswich], and should do better than he does.

I am not sure he would suit us if I'm being honest.

Talked to Burnley pal who has connections inside the club, and he said the manager is open to offers for Fleming, but only sensible ones.
Burnley's model is mainly based on buying younger players, often from overseas, who they can sell on at a profit. Quite a lot of their first team have gone, and Fleming could well follow.
