What a great piece of business, the purchasing of Sebastiaan Bornauw!
More leftsided centre-back options.
But, by all accounts, rightfooted!
Over 100 games in the Bundesliga.
A huge aerial threat.
A Belgium international.
Just coming in to his best years.
And a discount of €11m on his purchase price of just a few years ago!
Hopefully the €6m that we give Wolfsburg will help them purchase Sargent from Norwich and thwart Burnley's attempt to get him. I don't think Sargent is the best that Leeds can attract but I do think he would be an asset for Burnley.
1.) 30 Jun 2025 17:26:49
And now I read that we may get another €3m from a sale of Charlie Cresswell!
So, in effect, we have sold an England U21 player and paid just €3m to attract a Belgium full international replacement.
I do like Cresswell, but good business is good business!
2.) 30 Jun 2025 17:54:35
There was a rumour on the Leeds rumours site that we are looking to bring Cresswell back to Elland Road, the sell on fee would be knocked off therefore we would get a better deal! Whether that’s click bait again who knows ?♂️?.
3.) 30 Jun 2025 19:22:53
Again well done 49ners and all involved.
4.) 30 Jun 2025 22:07:11
Axe I agree with everything you said. But there is a big but. The lads injury record is not good in e recent years. However in saying that with money paid for him he could turn out to be a very shrewd signing.
Hopefully at worst a good back up and maybe a bargain starter!
5.) 30 Jun 2025 22:55:02
Worth a shout at that price.
6.) 01 Jul 2025 09:21:08
Corker, you said you'd leave my Big Butt out of future posts!
Aside, agree with the injury issue, but I just hope he and Struik can stagger their injured moments so we get through the season with enough cover.
22 Jun 2025 09:29:52
Wasn't it good to see Cresswell and Joseph trying to swap shirts at the end of the match yesterday!
A big thumbs up to Cresswell for a very resilient display, that sort of performance has always been I his locker. The year in France has improved his comfort on the ball but, before the usual suspects chip in, I don't see him as an improvement on Rondon so I don't believe he would have progressed as far at Thorp Arch.
And the £3.8m we earnt was well spent on Tanaka
Win Win.
1.) 22 Jun 2025 11:58:20
Agree Axe! That he was a very capable player has never been in doubt. The question was always, for previous managers and Farke, was around the style of his play. Best of luck to him, but I still agree with Class that we have kept the better of the brothers.
2.) 22 Jun 2025 14:12:16
Exactly cressy good player but needed time on pitch and the money he has gone to tanaka
Plus sell on clause win win win.
3.) 22 Jun 2025 17:08:38
He Lacks pace for me not quick enough bloody great in both boxses attacking ball I always thought that.
4.) 22 Jun 2025 20:07:07
Agree with Wigan whites that he's good defending the high balls and as a presence in the opponents box but not quick and don't think his distribution and comfort in tight situations is particularly good. One who did impress last night and looked comfortable on the ball was Beadle. Only 20 but very calm and at 6'7" he's a big unit. Off to Brum for another season on loan. Think he'll end up as Brighton's number 1.Also liked Stanfield last night. Not the greatest striker but he makes up for some of his shortcomings by just being a bloody nuisance. I like frontmen who when they haven't got the ball work their socks off for the team and don't make life easy for defenders (and midfielders) .
5.) 23 Jun 2025 05:52:13
Whom are the usual suspects Pc Axe?
6.) 23 Jun 2025 08:43:43
I'll put my hands up guys - in like Cresswell.
His threat in the box is something we have lacked (admittedly less so since the arrival of Rodon) but for me the kid was never given a chance.
Thankfully though, I don't pick the team:) ) )
Glad to hear that others agree that his younger brother is even better - fingers crossed:)

Aus, you can't be calling Bright naive when his track record of accuracy and being informed is on a far greater level than yours so far.
Nobody has called you naive previously and they would have far greater grounds to do so.
I think we all respect your opinion as to the links to the two lads who have gone to Sunderland but without knowing as to Leeds' desire to buy them (and I know you don't have anymore idea about that than I do) it's just another uniformed post on here.
07 Jul 2025 17:22:59
It wouldn't be the worst idea in the world
At this stage in our development we need to stay in the division and probably a 10 is a bit of a luxury. As would be a non-defending wide player.
Luxuries are for when we are established.
I enjoyed last season and we didn't have a 10 then either.

Dill
Please, please, please keep doing what you are doing. You are an inspiration to me, at least. I try to watch players and gain an insight in to their capabilities, but your level of detail is beyond anything I can achieve and I look forward to reading every single one of your posts (even the ones you berate me for my liking of Farke) . I know from my own efforts that Google doesn't provide the level of detail that you publish.
Thank you for all the time and effort that goes in to your posts/ articles.

Cheers guys
Still been reading all the posts, most days, but started realising I was getting a bit dark so apologies to any on here that I offended with my later posts.
And thank you to Jack Clarke, he's brought me back to the best community.

I side with George with regards to the alleged quote. It was like nails on a blackboard for me to read that. However, I had also read that he and his family are diehard Leeds fans. Maybe they were just the words of a jilted lover. After all it could have been he didn't want to go but financially we HAD to sell our crown jewel. I know I have been jilted and said I wasn't that fussed, when really I was.
On saying that, the overriding feeling I have around our search for the Summerville replacement is that Jack Clarke has worn the white shirt before and performed well to a full house at Elland Road. We have a unique atmosphere, and sometimes even the most talented of players finds the shirt too heavy and the crowd expectation too much. In Jack Clarke we have a tried and trusted player who has only gotten better since his sale.
And to nail my colours to the mast. I have previously been in favour of an Alan Smith or James Milner return I the past. They are Ronseal.

Agreed with all the above Aus, (pick yourself up man I don't antagonise you on purpose) .
What's your thoughts on selling BA and possibly keeping either Greenwood or Gelhardt as cover for that role should the need arise (a goal down with 10 minutes to play, 3 8's aren't going to be the best way to get back in the game) .
Would love us to get that smack-me-in-the-face centre forward, but prefer not to be giving money to a near rival in doing so.
08 Jul 2025 08:41:46
Corkey, that's a good point with regards to other teams needing for recruits than us. But you haven't helped with my jitteryness by point it out. Cheers.
Still hoping that our business has already been set up for later in the window, after the big fish have settled on their forthcoming squads and the rejects are available to us lower in the food chain.
(Based on my idea though it would mean we would have picked up Sargent and Hamer already as we are the bigger fish in those conversations. so, probably wrong again)
06 Jul 2025 08:46:54
Agree, Bermo, we do look a lot more focussed as an on-field leadership group than I have seen for some time. Struijk as an ex captain, Ampadu as the current captain, Rondon as a PL experienced international, Bamford as a PL (does 1 cap count? ) player. And now adding another captain in Bijol. I like how we are evolving.
I believe Leadership is more important than Personality. I don't see lots of personality at Liverpool but they are full of leaders. Same with Citeh (Grealish is definitely a personality but is not getting much game time) .

Morning guys, i am like you, getting a bit jittery with the noisy neighbour Mackems but when look at the wider Premier League I see that most teams are still at the beginning of their trading too.
I am going to put a positive slant on this by hoping that we have identified our target that are already in the Premiership (battle hardened) but we have to wait for the bigger fish to start the trading and then we can pick up our targets.
Maybe this CWC is a huge bottleneck for most teams' trading.
If we want McAtee then we have to wait for Citeh to analyse their future requirements.
If we want Bueinda then we are waiting on Villa and they may only sell once they have found a replacement that's in the CWC.
I am not saying any of the above is factual, I am just looking for patterns in general (and obviously I am clutching at straws with regards to being beaten to possibly targets by Sunderland! )

Sunderland had a decent keeper last year
Sunderland had a workable midfield last year (obviously Bellingham was a standout) .
Sunderlands big concern was in scoring, Roberts was heralded as their missing piece.
So far, no strikers have been signed by Sunderland!
Nor have they addressed the central defence.
