Alas that it was in fact called "Alas Smith and Jones"! Sheer brilliance. And "Not the 9 O'Clock News" too!

Ah, maybe you are too young, Bright, alas that Alas Smith & Jones was a pun by Griff & Mel on the famous western series Alias Smith & Jones about two outlaws seeking pardon, Kid Curry & Hannible Hays. ?

What Davey said.

Yes, Feath. Tony Christie's great song In the Avenues and Alleyways was used as an iconic theme tune for a pretty good series called The Protectors.

Marine Boy, Banana Splits, Tarzan and the Flashing Blade, horrendously dubbed but a great watch all the same.

Anybody remember the crime show where one partner was dead?
Also, correct me if I'm wrong. A prem team, I think Everton, have the Z Cars theme tune? Anybody know why?

One of my faves, Bright, along with Kung Fu and David Carradine as Grasshopper Caine, lol. Persuaders was jolly good too. Love the title music.

Loved Kung Fu too. Those were the days, my friends, lol. If we could turn back time. No stress. No responsibility. No mortgage. Just what should I watch on TV tonight? Bliss.

Steve Austin. A man barely alive. But we can rebuild him.

I'm with Baz on The Persuaders. Not just for Roger Moore and Tony Curtis, but also two of my favourite cars of all time, the Aston Martin DBS V8 and Ferrari Dino 246GT. I managed to blag my way onto the Ferrari stand at the 1972 Earls Court Motor Show, and sat in a red Ferrari Dino just like the one Tony Curtis drove.

Back then, it retailed at just £5,000.

I fondly remember Casey Jones, The Sweeney, The Saint and for must watch with the family, Planet of the Apes .and as an adolescent, I rather enjoyed I Claudius.

A car buff too, JR!?
You'll probs be able to tell the programme set in Portmeirion (?) in Wales, with the guy who had the Lotus 7 and those strange bubble things that followed him around? Was that The Prisoner? (Only saw re-runs, as I'm far too young!)

28.) 02 Aug 2026
02 Aug 2026 08:34:57
I can confirm, Bright, as I am old enough!
That it was indeed The Prisoner!

The magic boomerang forgot about that one. ?? Whitesee, and The Sweeney. Love it, Ani4ni, with Bright, The Prisoner. What was that all about.. It just went on and on.

It was indeed The Prisoner. I only watched a few episodes of it before it hit my boredom threshold. Patrick McGoohan was much better in Danger Man, and later in the film Ice Station Zebra.
