By all accounts we are deep in talks with James Trafford with ER being his preferred destination over other, including Newcastle.

Fingers crossed we don't dilly dally and get this one over the line!

Yep, fingers crossed we can put this to bed. Hopefully it's not one of those funny RM loans where you pay a fee to show commitment but there's a buy back clause.

2.) 25 Jul 2026 00:51:40
Trafford deal is done. WACCOE ITKs.

I've just seen an article (potentially nonsense) stating the ourselves and Sunderland have been offered the chance to sign Mitrovic for £50m.

It's dear but he knows where the goal is and if we could grab another winger to provide service, it could be a master-stroke in terms of survival. And then some.

If he's still fit or can get fit after playing in that exhibition league I'd be over the moon. Again though, wages. He must be on a fortune in Saudi (or is it Qatar? )

2.) 05 Aug 2025 00:38:47
No for me. Not even at 20 mill. Showed his character by going to Saudi. So won’t fit in at Leeds.

Igor Paixão from Feyenoord being linked for a move to ER or the Amex.
Great record in the Eredivisie but it's a big jump.

€40m being touted, represents a hefty gamble for me.

Leeds preparing a £33m bid allegedly. 9ers have genuine interest from what I hear and Paixão fits into their data driven model perfectly.

2.) 03 Jun 2025 22:58:42
Just watched his highlights reel. I'm not sure why, but I get Yeboah vibes.

3.) 04 Jun 2025 07:21:24
Interesting.

49ers get a lot of unwarranted stick in my opinion. The increase in the profile of the club and the work they're doing to improve the outward facing professionalism of the club is making us a very attractive investment opportunity which will also see improvements and benefit in the playing squad.

The transfer strategy, whilst slated sometimes (Perri) , has been sound and the recruitment has for the most part been excellent. You will always get certain things wrong. From research into Perri, there was nothing to indicate he was perhaps as poor as he was last year as standard. This summer's strategy has been the most ambitious in my lifetime (33 y.o) and it fills me with great confidence for not just the season ahead but for the long time future and success of the club.

Bring on Forest 22nd August! MOT

Another good post, JJ! But now put the armour plating on, and duck for cover!

2.) 25 Jul 2026 13:24:52
33, you spring chicken, you.
You mentioned Perri. What about Bourn, Schmidt, Large. Namecheck.

3.) 25 Jul 2026 14:23:16
Aus, did you forget to mention Farke too. ?

4.) 25 Jul 2026 14:29:37
Bazookas at the ready. Don your tin hat. .
Nah, joshing aside.

The fact that the 49ers are finally extending Elland Road is a big tick. Good stuff.

49ers in 23/24 Jan Window and Farke did mess up the run in the that seez, allowing little ole L1 Ipswich to finish above em.

But, 49ers did well enough in 24/25. Good signings, and not least insisting to Farkey that he drop Meslier.

Pretty good in 25/26 too. Perri excepted.

5.) 25 Jul 2026 15:18:49
Knew you had my back, Baz. Brothers in arms. ?

6.) 25 Jul 2026 15:35:04
Indeed, my Aussie bro.

7.) 25 Jul 2026 16:32:25
Surprised to see you mention Namecheck there Aus, I thought he more than covered his salary for us, given he was a free agent, but I accept he's far from able to manage lots of playing time at this time, but hoping a good preseason and he will give us a very respectable option from the bench.

Just my personal opinion though, Aus, each to their own, but I like him.

8.) 25 Jul 2026 21:11:51
We are lucky to have the 49ers. Best owners in my nearly 50 year lifetime, after so many terrible ones. Enjoy it while it lasts.

9.) 25 Jul 2026 21:18:43
Couldn't agree more, Alf.
Onwards and upwards & Upwards.

10.) 25 Jul 2026 22:55:57
We've had about 10 decent / good seasons in the last 50 years, and I would argue, the 49ers have been involved to some extent in 7 of them.

As others have said, we are pretty lucky and they are probably the best owners we have had in that time.

11.) 26 Jul 2026 00:09:30
No, Ani.

Leeds United have had 24 (twenty-four, not just 3) decent / good seasons in the last 50 years that the 49ers were not involved in.

They are the following seasons:
1975/76
1976/77
1978/79
1979/80
1980/81
1986/87
1989/90
1990/91
1991/92
1993/94
1994/95
1995/96
1996/97
1997/98
1998/99
1999/2000
2000/01
2001/02
2009/2010
2010/2011
2016/2017
2018/2019
2019/2020

Also 2020/21.

12.) 26 Jul 2026 00:17:42
* I forgot to write, also season 1977/78.

So, 25 decent / good seasons that Leeds United have had, that the 49ers have had zero involvement in!

13.) 26 Jul 2026 05:58:32
But that doesn't reflect on the ownership directly in those seasons, Baz. Managers are more likely responsible.

14.) 26 Jul 2026 06:45:18
Bright, Leslie Silver was a terrific owner. Many Cussins too.

And, the fact is, Ani made a wholly wild, erroneous claim.

15.) 26 Jul 2026 07:46:20
Like footballers, the style of football, and even the rules of the game, everything is different today; that includes football club ownership. You can't compare, and it means nothing to do so.

16.) 26 Jul 2026 20:54:18
If you think being in League 1 is a measure of a good season then fill your boots, Baz.

17.) 27 Jul 2026 00:26:46
Well, it was a very enjoyable and successful L1 party promotion season, Ani.

But, OK, if you insist, I will remove from my list that 2009/2010 seez ..

However, that still leaves 24 decent to good seasons that have absolutely nowt to do with 49ers, Ani, not your suggested mere three seasons. ?

Fingers crossed this gets them to accept, Alf! Be a great signing. Very keen to bolster in the middle of the park, and his value will likely triple over the length of his next contract with constant exposure to Premier League football.

I'd welcome the signing, but I'm not sure how serious the link is. We're linked with him every window, so I'm unsure if it's lazy journalism or if there's substance to it.

I'd sooner target someone with closer to a 1 in 2 strike rate.

Demirovic is at 1 in 2.44 in his last 4 Bundesliga seasons. Considering he hasn't played for 'elite' clubs in the league, this is a reasonable return, but there may be better options out there.

If he wants to play football and get himself into the England squad - it makes sense to move. He's guaranteed number one with us, which makes it an attractive proposition. Newcastle have just spent £20m on a new keeper, so it makes sense that he wouldn't want to be stuck in a similar position as last year, albeit against a more reasonable rival for position.

I think, from this year's World Cup, it is clear Pickford's days as England No.1 are done - at least at major competitions.

I feel there is a suitable chance for him to jump ahead of Henderson into that new No.1 slot, but he needs to play - and he will be acutely aware of this. to our benefit, hopefully!

Solomon is a premier league player. Just because he was in our attack last year, doesn't mean he's championship player. He improves our team as it stands and whilst there are better players in the world, this is a signing I would welcome with open arms.

Still more to be done though, we need four wingers capable of starting. I think with Gnonto, James, Solo, we have three great options for a rotation based attack. We need a fourth and a consistently fit striker that the current set can supplement.

For me Solomon, one more winger and a decent striker represents a remarkable transfer window. It could always be better but I don't buy into the negativity.

Their whole team has been shocking for years. In recent days the media have almost been suggesting it's his fault they were crap for the last two years.

He's far from a world-beater but I don't he is as bad as that, I'd be interested in a loan with option-to-buy but they'd have to cover 50% of his wages.

Still need a striker with pedigree though.
