Like most things, all clubs don't give two hoots for the shirt other than revenue streams of course.
It's certainly not compulsory to buy one, but I do sympathise with families with children and respective peer pressure that ensues.
Way back when I was a lad, my uncle Larry promised to buy me a Leeds shirt if I dug his allotment over. Two whole weekends of backbreaking work later, and he got me the shirt.
It was the ironed-on Leeds badge on a £2 t-shirt from the local market. I still loved it, though, until my sister shrunk it in the wash and all the transfer came off. we've never reconciled.
If I like a shirt I usually buy it on my annual trip to Tenerife, which for some strange reason is always less than a quarter of the price in the UK. ?

Yes Class, LUFC and/or shirt manufacturer and designer Adidas do or should give two hoots about how well received their kits are from a sales perspective.
Pretty sure our away kit last season, the classic all-yellow with the iconic smiley face badge, was a LUFC away kit sales record breaker by far.
Whereas, I would be extremely surprised if this 26/27 tea towel home kit is going to be anywhere near a top seller in comparison to previous home kit sales.
No chance imo.

If we'd have been 6 pts better off this season we'd have been 4 places higher.
4 places higher in each of the next 4 seasons (keeper contract length) would mean the keeper cost nothing due to increased prize money!
So, could a 25 million keeper get us an extra 3 wins instead of draws? Absolutely, they can, in my opinion, so it's well worth it.
Of course, it doesn't mean they will be that could, but, likewise, they could also do better than that.

I expected/ hoped that the 49ers would bring in an experienced, successful European Director of Football with a strong track record for this vital 2nd season EPL summer window.
Alas, it is not to be. and instead we worryingly still just have Head of Recruitment Alex Davies and former youth academy geezer Adam Underwood to recruit and move on players effectively and successfully.
We lost, in the past year, Nicky Hammond and Gretar Steinsson. Their experience is greatly missed, imo
Leeds United owners can do much better on these issues, and defo need to do so going forward!

Both of them had left before 1st July last year, so we're not overly involved in last summer's recruitment, Baz.
I think we did Ok last summer in the main (Perri a definite miss) , with Okafor, Stach, Justin and DCL being very good, and others being decent, such as Gudmundsson.

Pretty sure red kits and white kits are the most successful colour kits in football, and also in other sports.
The great genius visionary Don Revie had the foresight to change our home kit to the pristine all white a la Real Madrid, with great success.
He also decided that Leeds United should have an all red away kit, similar to that of Liverpool, and possibly as a nod to England's World Cup winning red shirts.
And indeed, Leeds United had success in all red: we won the 1971 UEFA Cup trophy vs Juventus, playing the away match in all red. ?
The fact that our hated rivals Man U have red shirts is, I believe, a reason we went to all yellow away shirts in 1973.

A ghastly, bizarre, all-orange kit, 1970 (which we played for one match, lost in, and thankfully never wore again) .
Throughout the 1960s, we had blue away shirts, all blue kit.
Or blue shirts with white shorts, and blue socks or white socks, depending on whom we were playing.
Also, away white shirts with blue shorts and white socks.
And white shirts and white shorts with red socks away, too.
There are a few other combos too.

Etc.
Not so much a fan of the Peacock badge.
Think it was changed by our chairman Leslie Silver because he considered it bad luck (it was the club badge of relegation 1982) .

I wish people would give up on the Don Revie, Real Madrid thing. Jack Taylor was the manager and Revie a player when Leeds first wore white. In an interview, Big Jack said white was introduced as it was easier to see.

In the 50s Leeds United played mostly in blue shirts at home and introduced a white away shirt in 1958.
Jack Taylor became Leeds manager in the summer of 1959, and was replaced by Don Revie in 1961.
It was Don Revie, as manager, who introduced the white shirts as a home kit in the 60s, replacing the blue and gold home kit, telling his players to think in terms of Real Madrid.
