I have a feeling Gerrard could be waiting in the wings and the job was mooted when he was in for the Rangers vacancy. Assume he would bring Gary Mac as a number 2.

We are 8 games in to t 38 game season. Maybe we should just accept the obvious and, see that this season is going to be a slog.
More losses than wins with some teams showing the gulf in class. When it sinks in to some that we are at big school now and the playground could get rough. The only aim is get your head down and survive any encouragement is more the gratefully recieved. To any who thought this season would be a cakewalk, the word delusion springs to mind and as for Farke and tactics? I too am baffled at times but calling for wholesale changes will help no one. You and I know (and this site shows) What a mess it would be if we all were in charge at ER. So for better or for worse let's just give the man some breathing space, support the team, the club, and stop calling for heads.
21 Oct 2025 11:11:39
Leodis, you're assuming another manager wouldn't do better. That Farke is getting more than a pint out of a pint pot with the players, he isn't.
There is more evidence to show that he can't do that job, than there is evidence that he can.
We will beat west ham, a team that could be beat by a starting line up that included Hellen Keller, Stephen hawking, ray Charles and Stevie wonder, and people will say "see! He can do the job".
Yes this season is going to be a battle but we have dropped points that we can't afford to.
21 Oct 2025 11:23:29
Leo, not 1 poster on here was under any illusion that this was going to be a doddle
Football for clubs like ours is good and bad
And if we do fail this Seez I would rather fail with effort then dross witnessed at weekend
Backwards, sidewards is horrible
Posters had been saying Lewin thrives on box delivery, well Farke stood on sidelines at weekend and witnessed complete opposite of that
And remained totally mute, maybe team needs more in game management then just half time
Then there's Baracus, who he keeps playing, whose greatest achievement in a game is not falling on his arse a dozen times
Things need to change sharpish, and again I reiterate I not calling for his head, just a different approach.
21 Oct 2025 11:33:30
Respectfully disagree Leo, the very definition of insanity is…. “Is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result".
Plus it would be a boring old banter site if we just accepted it all, to give Daniel more space.
For instance, from my own perspective to start with our front three and to have expected us to score the requisite amount of goals for a win was borderline delusional in my opinion.
Some people like to vent, rant and just because I generally do not, doesn’t mean they’re wrong or delusional, it’s an increasing common societal tactic to deride someone’s perspective, simply because their views don’t match or agree with your own.
The banter site (I believe) exists to encompass our broad but clearly dysfunctional family and all of us have the option to simply ignore posts we disagree with should we wish to, but cancel culture is the scourge of the modern age, again in my humble opinion.
I certainly don’t want DF head at this stage of the season, but I definitely would like to see changes made for Friday, as to do otherwise may once again test that insanity definition.
It’s an interesting game, I have it as must win given our upcoming run of fixtures, but I fully understand and accept why others say it is not.
ALAW.
21 Oct 2025 12:08:13
I, on the other hand, totally agree Leodis, as most in here would expect. I see no benefit at all in ditching Farke at this moment in time, and no matter how deep I dig into research, I can't find anyone who would deliver anything significantly better than we are achieving at this point in time. Not with the resources at the gaffer's disposal, at least. Not one.
21 Oct 2025 12:41:35
The ghost of Marsch hangs over us.
We stuck with him too long and our only option was dross managers.
Get someone now. Let them have their run of impossible winning games to get the team bedded in and playing right, then give them the January window to sell/ buy and strengthen the squad.
Basically, dump a truck load of money outside of a top managers door and have at it.
21 Oct 2025 13:31:52
Leodis and bright and opti. I’m sorry. You are wrong. We could play better. With better team selection and game management. We may survive. But purely cause the dross below. Not our ability to.
21 Oct 2025 09:18:03
Dyche to forest. Interesting. Thoughts?
21 Oct 2025 10:23:32
What crazy management - get rid of a manager who was performing brilliantly for a downgrade. Clowns.
21 Oct 2025 10:38:17
Our visit there on Nov 9th has suddenly got more difficult. Dyche will park the bus and go for long balls up to Wood, Awonyi and MGW where an Ange team would have been more vulnerable IMO.
21 Oct 2025 10:44:48
Good luck to him dealing with Marinakis.
21 Oct 2025 11:12:08
At least he won't be our replacement.
21 Oct 2025 12:10:48
A circus! And the messiah Nuno ain't exactly smashing it up either!
Ange was the wrong tactical fit for their playing squad. Dyche will keep them up, but only because they can play his game.
21 Oct 2025 12:54:57
And if it comes to a fist fight my money is on dyche!
21 Oct 2025 14:47:24
He might be gone by the time we get there!
21 Oct 2025 15:18:50
Dyche is right for the team but wrong for the owner.
21 Oct 2025 15:38:51
Would hate to watch a Dyche team play football week out, but if you were putting your mortgage on a manager to keep your team in a division with little or no money…. he’s in that group.
Saying that, it all depends on how he gets on with the egomaniac.
21 Oct 2025 07:40:34
{Ed's Note - PatrikBurgher has posted a new article entitled, I'm Confident That Arne Slot Can Turn Liverpool FC Around
21 Oct 2025 00:05:40
I wonder if most of us on here know nothing about football and talk utter bollocks. That would be strange considering how long we have watched it.
There are a lot of negative comments re farke below. But the trouble is, there are a lot of different issues with him. Not just one.
Favouritism.
Players positions.
Substitutions.
Tactics.
Formation.
Strange comments.
Ability to change a game. New ideas
Etc etc.
it is true we possibly could have got more from three games but we lost 2-0 at the weekend. Forget the stats. Mean jack rubbish really. 2-0 is being beaten. It's not unlucky. It's not last minute 1-0. It's having plenty of time to recover draw or turn it around. But we didn't couldn't.
That's reality. That's all that matters.
But Farke says stats matter and that our centre backs were to blame.
Surely he must be able to see the problems. Maybe he is unable to be self critical or flexible.
I get some like him and some don't and if we finish in 15 it will be acceptable.
I just don't get why everyone including farke can't see what's being done is not working.
21 Oct 2025 06:53:31
If he was that bad as you and others claim Aus then I can assure you that 100% we would have not have won promotion from arguably the most difficult and challenging league in the world. It’s as simple as that.
I think at the end of the day the fans who just don’t like Farke whether that maybe professionally or personally have to just accept that he is the one in the hot seat and is the coach of Leeds Utd and not them, whether they like it or not.
The bottom line is in a situation like our club as a newly promoted side, the objective is only to survive the first season up.
If we start losing game after game and look like we are a team that is just cannon fodder for the rest of the league, then ultimately, like any other team in this situation he will more than likely be sacked sooner than later.
Conversely if he can keep the team within reach of survival and playing football which is competitive then it’s also likely he be given the chance to use his methods to continue his campaign in keeping our club in the Premiership.
I accept that fans are nervous of our position but we are not top of the league in the Championship now, the Premiership is miles above it in quality. I think one or two are perhaps focusing a little too much on Sunderland’s very fortunate start, you can be assured by January/ February they will scraping for survival like us.
We are fortunate this season in the Premiership that there are a few teams like Wolves, West Ham and Forest are all struggling for one reason or another, but that may change as the season progresses, but because of there poor start it might give the promoted teams a chance to stay in contention.
If the story is of just not liking Daniel Farke because it fulfills an agenda then you will always be dissatisfied no matter what, as some fans always are.
21 Oct 2025 07:39:40
It’s about improvement. Not just survival. It’s about game management. Not see if my plan work this week. Hopefully it will. Earning your crust. Self and team improvement. From that game we are going backwards. Nothing to do with me not liking him. If we had 5 more points I’d give him a smacker on cheek. You prob right about Sunderland and Def right about the three below us. Let’s see what Saturday brings.
The good news is. Our two main strikers look like hitting double figures.
21 Oct 2025 08:24:10
I didn’t see the Burnley game as bad as some call it. Yes it was disappointing on my behalf because we missed at least two tap in goals.
Parker will frustrate a lot of visiting teams at Turf Moor simply by the way they play. Even Liverpool only scraped a last minute winner against them.
It’s still very early days to see improvements as you call it. I understand time is a luxury that few can afford in the bottom half of the Premiership but getting a win at home on Friday night will change the complexion a bit.
Make no mistake Aus this is going to be a nail biting ride to stay in this league, calling for the manager’s head every time you lose a game like some clubs are performing is not going to help. I just hope that they keep swapping and changing theirs coach’s in their desperation as that will bode better for us.
Staying calm while others are losing their heads is good for us mate, let’s not make the same mistake.
21 Oct 2025 08:25:11
OP I ain't calling for his head, but I am calling on him to react to this .
What are we all to think when he most. likely. will pick Stujuk and Baracus again Friday?
You tell me now constructively what am I missing other than that both of those players should be nowhere near that team
Farke picks players, . end of
No 1 else accountable there
We were woeful Saturday against a supposed well below our " standards " team
Lewin unless a drastic change is. going. to struggle to score all Seez, also very alarming now, coupled with owners who probably won't strengthen in January.
I would rather stay in Champo, then become new Norwich.
21 Oct 2025 08:41:35
Improvement opti. Not nec sack him yet. We are getting worse. Not improving. If you didn’t see that as our worst game barring farkes gunners calamity then we watched diff games. Change. Improvise. Improve. Try something diff. Grow as a human being. It’s worth a try right.
21 Oct 2025 09:09:32
You saw a very below par game against Burnley, I didn’t, we created the chances but didn’t convert them which is disappointing but we didn’t play badly.
I prefer to take on the Bielsa methodology, stick to plan A but just do it better.
With Aaronson his time is limited as soon as James and Gnonto are back to fitness, Aaronson’s season will be effectively over. I don’t rate Aaronson or Harrison at all and I believe our attacking will be more effective without them.
As for Struijk from the very start of the season he has merited his start, but the last 2 or 3 games his performances have dropped and I can see Farke’s reacting very soon if he doesn’t improve.
Making knee jerk reactions every game by changing the line up will upset the continuity of the team, players can go through bad patches but I feel the remedy is to keep playing, within reason to iron out the player’s lack of confidence or errors.
Players also have the opportunity to impress the coach when they come on as sub, it’s up to them to seize that opportunity, and I'm not seeing that from the likes of Tanaka or Piroe yet.
21 Oct 2025 09:16:07
Depends what you wanted to see in that game against Burnley Aus, if you are looking at goals then we were poor but in creating goal scoring chances I thought we performed pretty well.
21 Oct 2025 10:00:25
A win opti.
21 Oct 2025 10:41:25
Right about Sunderland I think OP. They could lose as many as 8 players in Jan for ACON, how will that affect them I wonder?
21 Oct 2025 10:46:15
OP, for such a knowledgeable poster on football, that was a total head scratcher of a reply
What we wanted too see was primarily a win, with goal -goals scored, neither of which were achieved
Stop putting spin on a horrendous display, You speak of James like he's going to change things, James is almost as poor as Baracus at this level, so reality check needed of James.
21 Oct 2025 11:18:11
Opti, if you didn't think the Burnley game was as bad as it been made out, then I wonder if you're paid for by the club, a happy clapper, or someone not entirely cracking when it comes to understanding tactics and man management.
We all have our opinions and yours is no more or less valid than mine or anyone else's.
But sideways tippy tappy football at 2-0 down? Throwing in three strikers anywhere to hope things change? Persisting with a starting line up instead of changing formation to suit?
Blaming the defence when £30 million of Farke's signings sit on bench (while complaint he wasn't bought players) it veers away from opinion and into objective reality that we were terrible.
And while the players take some blame, it all comes down to management.
Managing football players is no different from managing a department or production team. A good manager will see them working cohesively, positively and the results will speak for themselves.
A bad manager propagates negativity, chaos, mistrust and a bad working atmosphere.
21 Oct 2025 12:22:06
I'm not sure what to question there first Mo?
Your knowledge of management per se, or that of football management?
It's a slightly sweeping, yet hugely inaccurate statement born from a textbook looking at a utopian world!
That aside, which benchers from the weekend would have made a quantifiable difference in your opinion. You've made the statement, I'm interested to hear the back up.
21 Oct 2025 13:36:14
Start bij grue and ao and piroe. Drop struik Arron sach and cal.
21 Oct 2025 15:15:34
Thing is if he does make those changes and it doesn’t work, guess who gets the blame?
20 Oct 2025 21:12:04
Bright - to clarify, we probably had to pay Bam most of what was left on his contract - he wouldn't have walked for nowt. The only thing we saved was space in the physics room for one of these other finely tuned non scoring athletes.
21 Oct 2025 04:52:14
Really. Our forwards over last few seasons have been woeful. Piroe the exception but at a lower level. In last two seasons they have been presented so many chances we had to score a few. Prem diff ball game. None are good enough. I’m actually very annoyed we have signed cal on a 3 year deal. Stupid thing to do. Should have been 1 with extension if we wanted.
Don’t want to be negative 😂
But we just have to buy a new striker in Jan and have him on bench. Kudos.
21 Oct 2025 08:06:57
Last years top 3 scorers Piroe 19, James 12, Soloman 19. This year Piroe hardly played, James mostly injured, Solomon departed. Replacements DCL 1, Nmecha 1, Okafor 2. Meanwhille 2 multi million pound new players (both defenders) only sat on bench, but remember all the strikers we were linked with and never came. There's the nub of the problem. Will they/ can they turn it round? Keep fingers and everything else crossed. I'm usually an eternal optimist, but my optimism is being sorely tested right now.
21 Oct 2025 10:43:07
Correction, fat finger syndrome, Soloman 10.
21 Oct 2025 12:24:11
BamBam won't have walked away with 50%. Believe me.
20 Oct 2025 17:50:58
Will be watching the new Rangers gaffer very closely. Another huge job to pick them up. I like the guy, and his playing style / tactics. definitely a future option if he continues in the same vein up there.
21 Oct 2025 06:37:46
You think the squad good enough for second bright?
21 Oct 2025 08:41:45
I think it’s not a good move for him Bright, there’s too much at stake at Rangers and the fans will unlikely give him the time he would need to sort out their mess.
He is a good and upcoming young coach who is still gaining experience. He’s probably looking at how Gerrard made it there but I have a feeling it’s not going to go the same way for him.
So many others turning down the appointment tells you a lot about the predicament that lies ahead.
He will literally have to hit the ground running he can not afford to lose any games and that is a huge ask.
I think if he waited a while he would’ve got a decent appointment in the Championship eventually and could progress from there.
21 Oct 2025 10:03:02
Seems same with all those reportedly turned us down pre season. Mmmm 🤔.
21 Oct 2025 12:32:22
At the moment Aus, I can see Celtic getting 2nd!
I believe the guy is tactically astute enough to get a much better tune out of them, but that any difference won't be seen until the New year when he's got their fitness levels up to the standard required to follow his gameplan.
I tend to agree OP, that it could be an awful move for his rep, hence my interest in Seeing his development and achievements up there. I have a sneaky suspicion that he can and will turn their season around, but it will be next season a real difference is season.
Whatever happens, the stock response will be "it's only SPL! " 😬😂.
20 Oct 2025 16:47:35
Optional Dark Mode, optional text sizing on rumours 1 and banter 1 pages and larger 'Create New Post' form implemented. The 2 thumbs up boxes will be updated later to 1 thumbs up.
20 Oct 2025 18:34:38
Great work Ed033 liking the optional increased text size box, are there any plans for an optional Aus box?
Asking for a friend, only joking my antipodean mucker you always make me smile with your posts Aus.
{Ed033's Note - ok thanks.
20 Oct 2025 20:47:18
Better as it is Class, it'd be very inconvenient having to turn the phone upside down to read all his posts in "Aus" mode.
20 Oct 2025 20:56:59
Ed, I know I had a dig at the need for the optional dark mode, but with my dodgy eyesight, the ability to ramp up the text size when I don't have my reading specs readily to hand is a masterstroke. 🙂.
{Ed033's Note - ok thanks. i wonder if Aus knows he's not upside down, and in Australia, planes don't land upside down, ships don't sail upside down, waterfalls don't fall upwards? :)
20 Oct 2025 22:57:19
Spoilsport! Actually, if there is an upward waterfall anywhere in the world it's probably in Australia, it's truly a remarkable country.
20 Oct 2025 23:48:57
Ho ho ho. All having a laugh at my expense eh.
Like to idea of my own box.
{Ed033's Note - The joke is not on you, Aus, but on people who think rain falls upwards in Australia!
21 Oct 2025 12:35:50
Great work Ed. Above and beyond etc!
Good gag too, class! I will be keeping Aus mode toggling depending on how the wife is talking to me on specific days!
{Ed033's Note - Ok thanks.
20 Oct 2025 14:06:09
Anyone know of the allegation where police are involved of which Burnley player allegedly spat at one of our players during the game yesterday?
20 Oct 2025 17:35:37
Hannibal mjebril.
As Jack Charlton once famously said : "I'd have chinned him! ".
20 Oct 2025 19:45:42
Hannibal quickly becoming Pub enemy ¹№1 too Leeds fans.
20 Oct 2025 20:25:42
The same Hannibal who alleged a racist remark by a PNE player at the end of last season, an issue which is still inresolved 8 months on. Trouble seems to follow some people around.
21 Oct 2025 12:36:51
For won't of a better phrase, the guy is a privileged turd shute!
20 Oct 2025 13:56:29
I see Stach is getting a lot of flack from some and notably from some gobsh782 YouTubers.
If I’m not wrong wasn’t Anton Stach a number 6 at his previous club yet the arrogant 1 plays him as more of an 8 despite the fact Ampadu has been poor the last few games as well.
Gaby is getting his “ flowers” yet some want to gloss over his mistakes in recent games costing us goals and points, 3 in the last 4 games I believe.
Is he Firpo in disguise? (Jokes)
The point is if the arrogant 1 played people in the positions where they caught our attention or was even willing to adapt to a formation that suits his playing staff then this mess might not be happening. Yes it was a mess on Saturday, we barely laid a glove on Burnley.
Farke loves his bullshot stats yet looks past the stats that show Bijol was one of the top defenders across Europe last season instead he sticks with Struijk who turns and closes down slower than the titanic.
He has to adapt and quickly or just get rid now before it’s too late, Novembers and December look awful fixtures wise and I like many fear january will be on us too late.
And don’t forget he was heavily involved in the recruitment.
20 Oct 2025 15:59:10
I guess you are under the impression Dave that Leeds should be in the top half of the league, maybe playing for a Euro spot?
There were very fine margins against Burnley as are most games in the Premiership, they certainly didn’t play better than us, we also made more goal scoring opportunities than they did. They will not repeat that second wonder goal all season.
I honestly don’t see any real big problem here, we’ve started reasonably well and we’re not in the relegation zone, which in my opinion is better than I expected.
If we finish this season where we are now, believe me it will be a huge success.
We’ve still got injured key players to come back and a lot of new players still adjusting to the team and Farke’s methods.
If we can just keep our heads out of the relegation zone by Christmas then we’ve got a decent chance of finishing outside it come the end of season.
I’m under no illusion and I’ve always thought that this season is going to be a dog fight and nothing less.
20 Oct 2025 16:13:50
Not at all pal, I want the best for my club and I personally don’t think the arrogant 1 is the best for the club.
Stick and i guarantee we get relegated.
I don’t like him and I don’t rate him.
And I do believe that the recruitment in the summer both in and out spanks of an internal acceptance that they have 1 eye on being back in the championship next year.
20 Oct 2025 17:39:18
And yet, when Stach was playing well, there was no clamour for him to be deployed differently. Odd that. 🤔.
20 Oct 2025 19:56:06
He doesn’t come across to me as an arrogant man, think he’s always been respectful especially to the fans. He’s not a Bielsa if you wanted to compare him to him, I don’t think there will be anyone at our club who will compare to Bielsa.
Farke also got us promoted with the title did he not?
The recruitment was pretty decent if you take into account how much we had to spend and no with no star player who wanted to leave to generate extra funds.
If you look at how we’ve played against teams like Bournemouth, Fulham and Spurs you could easily say on another day we could’ve beaten all three of them,
I’m backing Farke to keep us in the Premiership this season but I’m not backing him to rip up this league with a huge amount of goals.
20 Oct 2025 19:58:53
During transfer window, narrative being spun by some on here was that when Burnley and Mackems were signing lots of players, people on here said oh hold on a minute
Both those clubs are only going to end up at a level we were already at, because both of them were so far behind us in quality
That's what was said
Well lads guess what Burnley looked better than us at weekend, no panic, no rush, they just were more assured and more confident in their game plan, so if their signings only brought them to our level, well how come they beat us?
Rhetorical question alert
Now I have said that to highlight the silly narrative that some put on their transfer window and the snails pace our window went, thus so me put that spin on it, rather than say, yes Leeds could be more active in window
Others are also saying oh we are 15th , we should be happy with that, well we could be lower after Friday
I understand staying up will be classed as our main goal this Seez
But Xmas is approaching and we all know, whose normally down there over Xmas / new year tends to be the 1's who sink down plug hole come April
Come on Danny, it's time to swing the axe on some players.
