I see the QSI takeover has reared it's head again. Apparently a £120M takeover is in the offing sooner rather than later, (from a source) .
Don't know if it Heinz or HP?

1.) 31 Mar 2020 16:58:26
hopefully Heinz.

2.) 01 Apr 2020 09:00:39
Daddies for me. (Or is that a different subject!? ) 🤔😲😬.

3.) 01 Apr 2020 12:54:06
Bring out the branston.

4.) 01 Apr 2020 15:13:57
cant see anywhere near £120M though unless that is if we are promoted. £80M maybe.

06 Nov 2019 08:27:01
The QSI takeover link seems to be popping it's head up again. The thing is whenever it happens no-one seems to deny it.

08 Jul 2019 21:59:01
Pontus gone then!
Maybe we'll never know the real reason, but just been reading that Monk dropped him for the good of the team. I'd forgotten about that.
Hopefully we have someone better lined up. New kit out tomorrow, so you never know? 🙏.

1.) 09 Jul 2019 06:10:00
He’s one man and no man is bigger than lufc.

2.) 09 Jul 2019 07:37:22
Pontus has come out and said it's to balance the books for ffp, as to it this is true or not, who knows. Not like he is going to admit that it's down to his attitude and why we not held out for a better price of we need the money. How can a team like Brentford pay him upwards of £30k baffles me.

3.) 09 Jul 2019 15:23:33
Is Pontus spinning it?

He is not lying about the "FFP need" if Leeds need his transfer fee in order to pay for the new centre back they had identified prior to his sale.

It feels like Jansson's behaviour at the tail end of the season may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. The powers that be may have already looked and identified a more team orientated centre back

Looking at the management's track record they tend to sell before they buy (Viera before Bamford; Clarke before Costa) .

So I put to you, the jury, Pontus had to leave as soon as possible even if we lost a couple of million over a projected fee. We need his money in order to secure his successor. Otherwise someone else may get in before us.

As a business model I can understand it works well for businesses with limited capital, making best use of the cash flow model.

4.) 09 Jul 2019 20:27:55
Good post Axe.

18 Jun 2019 13:58:43
More talk on Clarke to Tottenham today. Looks like it could be happening. TBH I'd be happy with £20m for him. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him to go, but I don't see him being a player that is vital to getting us promoted.

1.) 18 Jun 2019 14:44:07
I tend to agree unless he features more than he did last season. He made an impact before Christmas when he was coming on but then after his mysterious illness (some kind of disagreement with the club perhaps after the Jan window? ) early Feb he barely played. Do we really have 3/ 4 years to develop him or do we need players who can make a difference right now?

2.) 18 Jun 2019 17:12:31
20MIL? Two 10mill wingers in his place. Go for it.

3.) 18 Jun 2019 18:34:55
£10m needed every year just to balance the books

£5 in reserve for fees, wages, taxes

£5m to spend on players.

4.) 18 Jun 2019 18:57:38
Sorry but I don't wanna see Clarke go. Seen too many of our youngsters go in the past and now we have a manager that believes in youth. Bad move for me! Saying that we might loan him back maybe?

5.) 18 Jun 2019 20:37:55
£20m for a young player with flashes of talent but not proven consistently is good business. Indeed, in games when he came back late in the season looked ineffective at times.

If it happens tho, Radz needs to notably adapt his 'loans and free agents only' mantra. That won't fly following (if this goes through) the club's second biggest transfer fee after Rio. Don't expect or want to break the bank, however especially don't want to see 1 yr loans bust this hopeful investment on a 1 yr promotion folly if we don't make it.

CB possibly Ben White (buy now not loan) Costa (buy) a second winger maybe Harrison given how much Bielsa seems to rate him (buy) and a central attacking playmaker with a killer pass to replace what we lost from Saiz leaving.

Sell, loan or in must desperate mutually terminate those doing nothing for the club (Ideguichi - looks nearly done - Saiz, Sacko, Cibicki, O'Kane, Anita, De Bock) . Jury out on if Casilla is leaving or not.

Use that to give new contracts to those deserving of them Roofe springs to mind (and purchase a new keeper if we do indeed sell Casilla) = fair.

6.) 18 Jun 2019 22:17:18
Mysterious illness? Stop talking nonsense.

7.) 19 Jun 2019 08:55:25
What was it then Cork?

8.) 19 Jun 2019 09:24:02
Ealing, spot on.

9.) 19 Jun 2019 22:00:17
Sorry I thought you were saying he was pretending to be ill! My mistake and I apologize.

23 Apr 2019 08:05:23
IMO there are 3 people to blame for us not being in the top 2 at this stage. (Samu Saiz) , (whoever allowed him to leave) and (whoever cocked up the Daniel James transfer) .
I believe a fit, on form, committed Saiz would have gained us the few extra points needed. Someone should have told him to man up, remind his wife/ girlfriend he was a professional footballer when she met him and this is how it is.
Failing this I believe the signing of James would have gained us the extra points and impetus needed. 😠😠😠.

1.) 23 Apr 2019 09:56:45
Not sure on the Samu comment Dan but totally with you on the James situation.

2.) 23 Apr 2019 10:33:52
How often was Saiz fit and on form though? we should have binned him when he spat at the Newport lad. As for James, seems to me that it was Swansea's fault, I don't claim to know the ins and outs of it but if the lad was at ER and ready to sign but Swansea changed their mind what can you do?

3.) 23 Apr 2019 10:51:57
Saiz didn’t fit! He was lucky to be around after the spitting incident and never repaid us for sticking by him. Look at what has happened to him at Getafe, hardly taken the opportunity he had so desperately wanted has he! On his day, talented player but too few days and I suspect always on his terms. When you compare Hernadez, the man with Saiz, you see the difference!

James ultimately didn’t come because the Swansea Chairman ignored his owners instructions and then resigned before he was sacked. Not sure what we could have done to revive it as he wasn’t taking calls and would probably still have ignored instructions! I think on deadline day everybody closely involved bar the Swansea chairman thought it was all sorted!

4.) 23 Apr 2019 12:45:35
Danum Agree totally but the person solely responsible for both failures is Radz. Regarding Saiz, very difficult to resolve, a bit like Brexit but I would've only permitted him to go at the end of the season. As for James, Radz knew all along the proposed transfer was dubious because of the Chairman at the time. Had Radz offered the money up front, the Chairman would've relented. I think you'll find what actually cost us this season ultimately is Radz's money problems (this caused the poor structure of the failed James acquisition) from his tv rights debacle. Radz naive. If we don't get promoted via the playoffs, wouldn't surprise me to see Radz' true colours. Him selling up and Bub leaving. We've paid the consequences this season for Radz' mistakes when it all should've been so different.

5.) 23 Apr 2019 12:55:32
Spaniard Saiz did fit albeit only just. What he did at Newport wrong but he became a highly effective ball carrier which aided our overall play. He did need resting more frequently, as did other players but letting him leave was dumb and has cost us an automatic promotion and a diminution in his transfer value. As for James, you are right but miss the point. Radz knew this dynamic but failed to react and take decisive action. His tv rights debacle meant he couldn't restructure the deal to Jenkins liking so Jenkins put his foot down. If we fail in the playoffs (likely) I won't be surprised to see Radz sell.

6.) 23 Apr 2019 13:27:07
Guess we will never know. Not sure I follow your logic with James, Radz and everyone else thought the deal was done, why need to renegotiate anything. By the time it became apparent, too late. In my opinion Saiz is only good if he wants to play and even then when he has been given the opportunity he wanted in Spain, he hasn’t delivered. But it’s all in the past, we could have had both of them and still ended up where we are, who knows.

I think you might be more right about Bielsa going on then Radz in the short term, depends who is willing to buy and not buy. Not sure Bielsa will have the energy to go again or the players to go with him unless he can show how he has learned and that he really has the resources he wants.

Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. How was your Easter you were very quiet on here!

7.) 23 Apr 2019 13:53:08
Spanish Not good! Very depressed about losing to Wigan. There's other personal carp I'm going through right now. An Easter to forget!

8.) 23 Apr 2019 13:58:52
Spanish Radz and American counterparts at Swans thought, no hoped deal was done. They knew all along about Jenkins. Jenkins was the one who told McBurnie he's going nowhere. There was however a chink of light with Jenkins. He was passionate about protecting financial interests of Swans so informed everyone he'll only sanction deal if virtually all money paid up front. You know the outcome.

9.) 23 Apr 2019 14:32:59
That’s interesting stuff George. Hopefully Radz will learn from it! Sorry to hear your news. The personal stuff can help keep the football in perspective but the football can also provide some much needed relief at time. When both are bad, it’s not good! Feeling for you!

10.) 23 Apr 2019 17:01:17
Spaniard Thanks. Please bear in mind Radz economic with the truth. He said afterward "we did everything they asked". Yes, in a way he's right. Problem is he didn't do everything that EVERYONE asked, ie Jenkins.

11.) 23 Apr 2019 19:17:06
James was supposed to be Bielsa's number 1 target, so why did we not try to get the deal done early in the Window? Radz and his sidekick Kinnear have always been economical with the truth. Remember last close season when Kinnear was on a Season Ticket Sales Drive and he was telling us how many millions we had to spend as well as the 10 million from the 49rs. What happened to all that?

12.) 23 Apr 2019 22:34:39
Swansea were always trying to hold on to their key players and only sell as much as they needed. I suspect that James was the last one that they wanted to go and from memory he wasn’t the only deal that fell through on the final day once they had what they needed. In the end it worked out for them, they have benefited from his play and they should get a much better fee for him, so you can see why they did it.

13.) 23 Apr 2019 22:57:04
Spanish The "they" you refer to was Jenkins on his own. He left the following day. James' increase in value via goalscoring displays prove he was right. The benefactors, Swansea, are merely lucky as "they" intended quite the reverse, his sale.

I for one think the season should not be restarted, and titles, promotion etc should be decided on average points per game, (for obvious reasons) . If the season was restarted there would be loads of false results, due to players at clubs with nothing to play for, not being fit, not giving a toss, and not wanting to get injured for next season, or if they're looking for a move. The main reason is of course, if there is a chance of one player catching the virus then the season should not restart until a vaccine is found and fans are allowed in the stadiums.

1.) 09 May 2020 16:58:57
Good points Dan. I was an advocate of finishing the season but has time has gone on and more obstacles being unearthed I am now not too sure and actually can see the merit in finishing this season by some agreed formula, thus leaving next season untouched (hopefully) .

2.) 09 May 2020 17:13:43
As long as we get promoted, I’m past caring now.
Stay safe brothers and sisters!

3.) 09 May 2020 17:44:04
The season has to finish.
I don't care when it re-starts but it's the only fair way.
The rules for the following season can be decided when its time for it (eg only play each team once if needed to re-align the season to the calendar) . That way everyone knows before the season starts what the rules are.

4.) 09 May 2020 18:29:20
All good points Danny up until talk of a vaccine being found. there might never be a vaccine found or could take years.

5.) 09 May 2020 22:34:18
sorry dan but you are just wrong. Football is too important and unpredictable to be decided on any possile forumlar. Look a few seasons back Lesciter was certain to get relegiated yet they stayed up then won the league, then look at Denmark they won a euros that they didn't even qualify for. So with this in mind we can not have any formular decided anything as important as league status

with this in mind we have to abandon a leauge 80% done or wait. until any point it is ready to complete. With that said you would never leave something 80% done to start again so the season has to be finish

I think it should be done sooner rather than later but this is a personal opinion. behind closed doors with minimum risks but if football can happen during ww1 in my opinion it can start again pretty soon. this said I appreicate this is my opinon and highly debateble and contraversial. however the fact the season has to be comepleted is for me not up for debate and beyound reasonable doubt.

6.) 09 May 2020 22:49:46
Berm you are right about Leicester but that was a full season surprise not a last 9 game surprise.
Look at BBC report online and in the last 10 years they show how few changes there are over the last 9 games.
I don't want a formula to be used to end the season unless it is instead of a null and void option.
Play when it is deemed safe to do so even being closed doors.
Unfortunately we don't make the decisions.

7.) 09 May 2020 23:58:45
very true cananda just for me any other descions other than finish the season even if at the expense of the following season (so next season takes place a year later) is the only option. these are unpreicidented times. we have to wait finished what we started then move forward anything else for me is incomprehensible.

8.) 10 May 2020 09:56:57
Finish season now. Promote and demote and prepare for next season accordingly. No point carrying on.
Just finish it now. Get it done.

9.) 10 May 2020 12:02:25
there is an argument to this aus but let me put one seranrino to you

this happens again next year. leeds are second from bottom but two of our best players have just come back from long term injury and our big jan buy who is a star striker has just found his rhytm and started scoring. our recent form is very good and we look set to get the points to stay up if the season finishes however they finish the season early and we go down and it takes another 16 years to come back. would you accept that. i know i wouldnt. now if that ain't good enough for leeds why is it ok for the lot this season?

10.) 10 May 2020 14:03:19
It’s not feasible berm. Really. Things don’t really change that drastically and not in last few games. Rarely has last few games made a diff.
I agree football is impossible to predict and I can see villas argument for one.
But the rest are where they are because. That’s how good or bad they are.
If we were in bottom 2 mate. We would all agree we deserve to go down. Or most of us would.
The only ones that seem to have a problem with Stopping the season now this is the bottom under achievers. Not top or play offs or euro places. Just the crap teams.
The powers to be need to grow some balls. Just like the government. Do what’s best and sensible and fair not what makes People happy.

11.) 10 May 2020 14:45:23
no aus i certianly can see your argument and do agree largly, i just know if it was us I would be gutted and would hope that we would get a chance just in case as in football miricles do happen and I would be gutted for all the fans, players, staff of the clubs going down unless matchamtically impossible to stay up.

Personally I hope football does the right thing and finishes what it started as it is the fairest thing and then there can be no if's and's or but's but I certainly can see your point and do not disagree on your points.

12.) 10 May 2020 15:46:43
Yknow. If we got relegated because of the virus.
We would be twice as strong and bounce back and win the Division by a mile.
Like who was it? Juventus.
**** villa although I get their point
If it was us. I would honestly say. We were crap. We got what we deserved.
Now build better memories.
I 100% believe that the season won’t be completed.
So finish it. Top and bottom.

13.) 10 May 2020 18:35:48
If the season cannot be finished, then I believe analysis of the games from the start of January should be used to work out points per game for both home and away fixtures.
This would factor in the impact of any players bought or lost in the January transfer window, and any runs clubs were on, either good or bad and goals scored and conceded. I believe this is as close as you can get to a fair outcome to the final league standings, and promotion and relegation should be based on this. Just my opinion but the leagues simply cannot be cancelled.

14.) 10 May 2020 19:37:14
Interesting to see what happens to the Bundesliga this week when they start . strong leadership and decision making in Germany.

Aus you vaguely say 'prepare for next season accordingly ' . when, how?
As without an effective vaccine found it will probably never be totally safe to restart . an effective vaccine could take years to find. so no football in the UK for years? . many clubs would no longer exist

I believe Aus that Leeds best chance ( perhaps only chance ) of being promoted this season is to finish this season's matches on the pitch.

15.) 10 May 2020 20:04:59
MG the season can be finished. there is no guidelines to why it can not be finished at whatever date this is. it depends if the intergitury of the leagues comes above champs league and european compititons which sadly i don't think it will

think some leeds fans are saying finish it now and use a points per game or some other system to work out who goes up. but then that suits us

what if the choices were finish the season now and no one goes up and no one goes down as if we can't finish it then it don't count. or finish it at all costs at what ever date however long it takes. then what would we say

the season for me is 46 games if 46 games are not played then the season is null and void and no one goes up or down both from a leagal point of view (it would be a lawyers dream and rightly so) and from a moral sporting point of view. if a fight got called off in round 8 due to say a fire they would fight again not say well one boxer was ahead on points so give him the belt.

16.) 10 May 2020 20:27:54
Hi Bern, fair point. I would always opt to finish the league at all costs if possible, and I do think it will, but if for some reason it can’t, I do believe there is a fair argument to call a decision and bae it on whatever the hierarchy deems correct. There are times a game is abandoned and the result stands, so we do see it to a lesser degree occasionally.
I guess I am biased as a Leeds fan, but I also believe both Norwich and Villa do not deserve to be in the Premiership next season.

17.) 11 May 2020 00:00:13
true mg and like awith aus i can see your point and agree to a large extent. one thing is for certain this is not an easy call for once i almost. almost feel sorry for the fa and efl.

01 May 2020 09:37:31
I think after Sergio Agüero's comments, stating players he has spoken to are scared to start playing again while the virus is still around, means the season will not be finished.
Let's just hope the FA/ EFL use points per game and we go up. 🙏 If not then no clubs in the Premier League should be allowed to play in Europe next season. (As you can't use the season so far to qualify for Europe, but not use it to get promoted)

1.) 01 May 2020 11:07:52
Exactly Danum . which is why the Dutch Top League closed shop null and voiding the league with no Champions relegation and promotion. but still seeking entry into next season UEFA European competitions for it's top 5 clubs is ridiculous, unfair, illogical and should be immediately legally challenged by the clubs denied promotion in Dutch League 2.

2.) 01 May 2020 11:20:18
. seeking financial damages/ revenue for starters.

03 Apr 2020 13:49:16
I'm getting really p#ssed off with this working from home b#llocks.
I mean, before this virus started I didn't even have a job! 😂😂.

18 Mar 2020 08:08:33
Apparently the Adidas deal is still happening, but if we don't go up the kit will only have two stripes! 😉.

15 Mar 2020 09:15:43
If you think about it from a non partisan point of view, the best thing to do, would be to void this season and hopefully start a new season in August.
I fear this is what will be decided in this week's meeting, due to the fact that only the teams with a chance of winning their leagues, or getting promoted would vote to carry on. Relegation threatened clubs would definitely vote to void the season and the rest would see it as the right thing to do.
It's not fair, but I'm afraid getting this virus sorted is bigger than wether we go up this season or not.
MOT. Whatever happens!

1.) 15 Mar 2020 09:54:32
Is this virus any worse than a common flu.

2.) 15 Mar 2020 11:35:11
According to the WHO flu killed between 290000 to 650000 last year.

3.) 15 Mar 2020 11:41:14
Doubt if they will void it, how do we decide then who goes into European competitions from PL. They need to make the fairest decision now. Void it and nothing is solved.

4.) 15 Mar 2020 13:22:24
Trouble is no one knows how this pandemic will play out. Only thing we have to go no is what is happening now where it first started China and the East Asian region. If reports are true then the virus first became a problem there in December and the number of cases are slowing, South Korea saying they are seeing less cases each day as people are starting to recover. Reports are that Britain is weeks behind other regions including mainland Europe, so we can expect the next couple of months to become worse here. So just maybe this season doesn't get finished before the next is due to start.
Personally I think we should finish this season even if it means we miss out the rest of this year and finish the remaining games from this time next year. Maybe this will allow the population of this planet time to recover from the virus and socially everything recover. Just saying null and void this season is wrong, either finish the season at a later date or allow teams with games in hand play them behind closed doors.

5.) 15 Mar 2020 13:46:09
It would seem sensible to go a version of the system likely to be adopted in Germany with promotion of top two in each league and no relegation. It would actually make some kind of sense for the other teams in the playoff positions to go with this. I think someone on here has already pointed out that with no teams coming down from the Prem with parachute payments, the teams just missing out this season would likely be best placed to take the three places available next year. If the season is played through to conclusion, they'd be likely to be fighting for one place this year and could have three stronger relegated teams (for example Norwich, Bournemouth and Villa) potentially blocking their path to promotion next time around.

6.) 15 Mar 2020 17:15:05
Richie. Are you sure it's a good idea to get your medical information from a 60s rock band?

I've got a feeling this season will not be finished. I think we can only hope the points per game system is used, as it would be the only fair way to sort it. Having said that, I wouldn't be saying the same thing if we were fourth rather than top. I really do fear the worst TBH! 😱.
