Today Middlesbrough U21 4, Leeds United U21 4. Ilia Gruev had a run out and played 85 mins, which is a good sign.
Also, Carrick Njinko played only 45 minutes and still helped himself to another 2 goals. He's out of contract at the end of this season, and if they've got any sense they should be talking to him now about a contract extension.

Loving this Cov game. 55 min in. 2 down. Player down. lol. Frank gone very soon. Chuckle time lads. Xxx

13 Sep 2026 15:34:25
Now 3:0. I was half hoping for a draw which would've sent Villa bottom, but always happy to see fat Frank getting a doing over. You'll be able to go to bed happy, Aus.

13 Sep 2026 21:01:39
Don't think Carrick will make it till the end of the season either, I think it will get worse rather than better for them in the Prem.
Love Action.

13 Sep 2026 22:01:54
Last season eleven EPL managers were sacked or left by mutual consent. There maybe wont be so many this sees, maybe 5 or 6.

In my opinion, re those EPL managers who will or may be sacked this seez:

Very Likely: Frankie

Likely: Arbeloa, Sage

Middling chance: De Zerbi, Carrick, Glasner, Le Bris, ONeill, Farke

Unlikely: Jakirovic, Rose, Moyes, Jaissle, Emery

Extremely unlikely/no chance: Arteta, Maresca, Andrews, Iraola, Alonso, Hurzeler.

2

13 Sep 2026 22:21:21
I think Dick could walk away, Baz. It seems a very unhappy position now for him.

2

13 Sep 2026 22:30:41
Yeah that's a fair shout, Chris.

2

13 Sep 2026 22:53:00
Baz, I can't see Farley getting the sack this season, but happy with the rest you quoted.
1} Frank can't stand the man. But, like Coventry FC, they need a better man.

1

13 Sep 2026 22:54:28
Think you can put De Zerbi and Carrick in the likely bracket, and I also agree with Chris on Dick Emery. He's gonna walk for sure. Villa are toast and could be in the relegation zone in the New Year as they are now.

You might see an unprecedented amount of manager sackings this season in the Premiership, I don't see Farke as one of those sackings but I would say that wouldn't I!

0

13 Sep 2026 23:12:00
Actually, Chris and OP, you may well both have correctly predicted Emery walking.

I maybe wrong, but hasn't there been quite a few times when he has left clubs of his own accord even mid seez.. so he has previous!

1

13 Sep 2026 23:16:34
Whitey and OP, it's an interesting one with Farke. It's hard to call for me.

1

14 Sep 2026 00:54:52
I could make a case for all the ones you rated as "unlikely" being moved up into the "middling chance" category, especially Jaissle and Emery. In fact, I might even move Emery up into the "likely" group.

14 Sep 2026 01:16:20
JR, I think Hull would want to hold on to their manager, come what may.

0

13 Sep 2026 08:57:42
Both Ipswich and Hull started strongly. Leif Davis was brilliant yesterday. Would have liked to have taken him back when they were back in the Champo. Also delighted for Lewie Coyle top lad, top pro, for ruining my preseason prediction that Hull would beat the least points record in the EPL, but genuinely pleased for both teams and that the big spenders are having their noses bent.

Long ways to go of course, but agree with earlier posts of how Europe may see an established team, Villa, Palace fall into the relegation scrap.

Sadly think spuds will get it together eventually but this could be the least predictable league season for the past few years, which is thankfully more exciting even if the title is only between 2/3 teams again.

3

13 Sep 2026 11:02:28
Always rated Leif Davis.

A competent defender, better than Firpo was, and arguably better than Gudmundson.

And more effective going forward, especially assisting and scoring goals (2 in 4 EPL matches so far) than Gudmundson, Firpo, etc.

Currently rated at Β£20 million on Transfermarkt.

Our then hierarchy at Leeds incredulously gave him away to Ipswich for less than one million. doh.

As regards teams in Europe who may struggle in the league, I expect and hope Sunderland will do so. Palace and maybe Villa.

3

13 Sep 2026 21:24:26
If he is so valued, then why is he still at Ipswich? Just a question.

0

13 Sep 2026 22:04:41
Maybe Ipswich wanted more than his value .. they didn't want to lose him, OP.

0

13 Sep 2026 22:28:53
There's a price on every player's head where a club will sell.
I've heard many pundits praise Davis, and I'm not one to deny that either, but it is curious that no Premiership club went in for him when they were relegated.
Surely, if he was that good, he would not have been overlooked, or has he been overlooked?

1

13 Sep 2026 07:05:33
It is quite embarrassing that Hull managed a draw against their A team and we got pounded.
On a happier note.
How good would Cov Spuds and Villa going down would be. Won’t happen but let’s enjoy their woes while they last.

6

13 Sep 2026 09:30:40
My Spuds-supporting brother is not answering calls or texts, Aus. Can't think why, only calling to see how his team are doing?

4

13 Sep 2026 11:06:47
Indeed, Aus, re Hull and Leeds results vs Chelsea.

You and I, and a few others, are in a minority on this forum preferring a new manager next seez.

..But it was interesting to read on last night's post on Rumours page that very pro Leeds United regime Alf also hopes for a change of manager next seez!

3

13 Sep 2026 11:20:52
Aus, you cannot compare the two matches imo, so many differences. Why, on a Leeds site, are people extolling other teams' performances and using them as a means to bash our boys, management, recruitment, owners, etc. We are 3 games in. We are unbeaten. We are a work in progress. I don't give a flying what other teams do, it's all about being and supporting LUFC.

5

13 Sep 2026 12:32:09
Vid, mate, you weren't saying we are a work in progress last November when you were calling for the manager's head. Just saying.

4

13 Sep 2026 12:36:10
Excellent post, Vid. I couldn't agree more. Hope the weather is not too hot for you. Pleasantly in the south of France just now. πŸ‘

3

13 Sep 2026 12:49:51
Roasting class lol, 33 every day! Enjoy, bro. Very true Corkster, but things change, like we were on an abysmal run at the time and looked lost. Now, well, completely different story. But the main thing is, it's only 3 games. We have performed well, even in that first half against Chelsea. No penalty, different story, we get a penalty, different story. Games are so different, you cannot compare.

See where we are at the end of October, but we are on all fronts in a good place now. My main point is, being Leeds is different, it's like taking football heroin, it's in the soul, it's a family, a religion, a lifetime addiction and nothing else will do. We have all experienced many, many bad times, but that's what makes success so sweet. I cannot compare us to anyone because We Are Leeds. UTWDTP.

4

13 Sep 2026 13:52:02
Excellent Vid. Enjoy your hols, mate.

1

13 Sep 2026 14:30:14
That's not roasting lol. That's a spring day, Vid. Man up.
Please advise on all the differences between said cup pounding and Hull's league game. All of them please ??????

1

13 Sep 2026 14:48:48
Indeed, Aus .. you might be in for a long wait re those alleged differences.

And, it's a bit of a stretch for some to keep suggesting that 'without the penalty different story'. Yeah, sure Chelsea wouldn't have scored 5 more . maybe just 3 or 4. πŸ˜†

2

13 Sep 2026 15:02:05
Aus, we gave them a roasting first half, you could say. We changed things late, and that cost us. Once they score, it gives them the boost they need. We didn't defend very well, so in the league game you will see a big improvement.

The quality they have too, we are not yet in that position, but we are working towards it bit by bit. We are not top 6 and have to expect one or two lessons, you could say. Enjoy the game Monday, forget the past.

2

13 Sep 2026 15:08:42
Ok, Aus, to start, no two games are ever alike, such as playing Forest twice in a few days. No two teams are alike, so Hull playing Chelsea is totally different. No two sets of events are alike: decisions, luck, good play, etc. No individual player or team can play two games alike. The line ups for both teams were vastly changed.

The weather is never alike. No two reactions or decisions by players or manager are ever alike. I could go on, but you are always convicted to your opinion, so it's pointless. Baz, I really don't know why you bother supporting Leeds, except to have an argument. Your negativity is like a wet blanket, sorry, old sausage.

3

13 Sep 2026 15:47:36
So Farke fault, Vid?
All good, mate.

2

13 Sep 2026 16:08:36
Davey, ..some of the peeps on here are on the other, more fanciful end of the spectrum.. it's balancing out debate, mate.. very dull if we all agree.

As for my good self and supporting Leeds.. been doing that before most on here were even born, including your good self.
.no worries, fella.

2

12 Sep 2026 19:57:01
Spuds winless and goal-less after 4! Still reckon they'll click and be fine, but the longer it continues, the better (and funnier!)

7

12 Sep 2026 22:11:04
Yep, Spuds misfiring so far, but they're only 3 points behind Leeds, and we have a very difficult October coming up, where conceivably we pick up just a point or so.

Away to Arsenal, Sunderland and Bournemouth.

And just one home game, Man U.

In my opinion, it's imperative Leeds United pick up at least 4 points in the next 2 matches vs Newcastle and Palace.

Otherwise, pressure might start to really build on Farke come November.

3

12 Sep 2026 22:51:39
Let's be serious here, it is hilarious. πŸ˜‚

4

12 Sep 2026 23:17:12
Baz, if we do manage to beat Newcastle tomorrow, then we'll be joint third with show stoppers Hull.
That'll get yer juices following, I'm sure.
Put a lid on that pressure cap, doubting Baz.

7

13 Sep 2026 00:11:23
Well, hopefully Leeds United do manage to beat Newcastle, OP.. But Leeds haven't won in 3 matches, fella.

And, there's no doubt we've got a very tough run of fixtures in October.. have we not?

Pressure can mount very quickly.

3

13 Sep 2026 07:09:30
Ofc we play Monday..

0

12 Sep 2026 17:50:40
Well that Hull result makes us look like a right set of mugs.

4

12 Sep 2026 18:24:33
Sorry, genuine question: based on the past two seasons, mugs because?

4

12 Sep 2026 19:07:49
Maybe a tad harsh from Staffs, but only a tad.

Hull gave Chelsea's billion-pound squad a right good scare, and could have won. Whereas Leeds United folded like a deck of cards, getting thrashed by Chelsea.

Hull have been very impressive so far, and those predicting them to accumulate a record low EPL points total have clearly misjudged them.

It's very bad news for some other EPL teams, including Leeds United, if not only Hull, but Ipswich too, have strong seasons and stay up.

3

12 Sep 2026 19:22:31
Mugs, because we folded like a deck of cards, having spent how many millions on new players. Result was a disgrace.

3

12 Sep 2026 19:39:08
There's a long season to go yet, and Hull will probably get found out eventually, but if they don't, it won't really surprise me. Blades have done it with Wilder, and us with Marcelo in the first season up.
The sad part is, though, when you do get found out, you drop like a stone.

Leeds United are no mugs, mate. Was your mouth out.

4

12 Sep 2026 19:41:52
I'm not sure it's very bad news for us if Hull and/or Ipswich stay up.
If we're good enough, we'll stay up. If we go down, it'll be because we deserve to go down. Good on 'em if they manage to stay up (hopefully not at our expense) .

I think Coventry are for the drop. Palace and Fulham look poor. Fulham have lost two six-pointers already vs. Palace and Sunderland. Sunderland have had an alright start (Ipswich defeat was poor, Brentford point excellent) . They and Palace have Europe starting soon, which will be hard to juggle if they get sucked in.

Palace already have Henderson and Disasi at least injured and suspended when they face us.

Any more defensive issues from Europe on Thursday, and they'll start to look thin. An excellent chance, irrespective of the Newcastle score, for us to put some distance between us and Palace.

Ipswich have looked competitive in all their games for Β£171m they ought to. Hull had a similar, very vibe-y start under Phil Brown, beating Spurs and Arsenal back in the day and survived by the skin of their teeth that year. Not saying it'll happen the same way, but maybe they'll be 'found out'.

We've had a very solid start. Keep it up and we'll be fine.

4

12 Sep 2026 19:50:45
Hull are so far pretty tight at the back and even more surprisingly scoring goals against good teams.

But it's a pretty long seez .. see how it goes in next 10 matches.

2

12 Sep 2026 19:55:25
Fair points, Ealing.

Yes, it looks like an opportune time for Leeds United to play a somewhat weakened Palace team, who are also busy with a European tie before our match with them.

2

12 Sep 2026 20:03:35
If we're good enough to stay up, then we will, irrespective of what others are doing. Personally I think it's great that (most) of the promoted teams are bloodying some noses. It would be great if all three stay up and we get some real fresh blood in the EPL.

We seem to have another weird EPL developing, with established teams, like Villa and Spurs not playing to expectation.

3

12 Sep 2026 20:26:55
Conversely, Ani, in the 23/24 season, Forest were pretty woeful, but stayed up by default because the 3 promoted teams were absolutely.

1

12 Sep 2026 20:42:49
I agree. Very embarrassing to ship 6 to Chelsea in 35mins when they couldn't even beat Hull with their full strength team. Needs sorting out, and fast.

2

12 Sep 2026 20:55:46
That's all as maybe, but I'll make a wager with you now that Hull City finish the season in the bottom half of the table, maybe even fighting to avoid relegation.

2

12 Sep 2026 21:03:56
Don't mind Hull and Tractors staying up, Ani, but won't be able to suppress a giggle if Fat Frank & co straight back down.

2

12 Sep 2026 21:05:43
That would be a good seez for Hull JR.

1

12 Sep 2026 21:32:36
Only if the possible fight to avoid relegation is successful, that is, Baz.

1

12 Sep 2026 22:10:13
What I do think is that, though we might be ok if our first three games are anything to go by, I think the league will be tight in terms of points. We could be 14th and only 6-7 points clear again. I think the way that Hull and Ipswich have come out of the blocks says they're going to at least fight.

I predict Fulham to be this year's West Ham - the established team that sinks quite far.

They've staked their survival on Arbeloa and signings like Palacios, Garcia, Charles, Affengruber and Larsson. It's a big unknown because none of them have prem experience. Not a negative, necessarily, just an unknown.

Remarkably, according to Transfermarkt, our net transfer spend is lower than Fulham's for this window. And yet they feel like a much weaker team.

2

12 Sep 2026 22:48:24
Villa and Newcastle also have had the hearts of their teams ripped out this summer, and may struggle this season. Villa especially have also got to fit in at least 6 Champions League fixtures with their depleted squad, and are my tip for an established team that may flirt with relegation.

2

13 Sep 2026 08:04:46
Stubs, totally different game, cup to league, two different teams. First half they were excellent; second half, a different game with 5 different players. Come Monday our full team will be out and we are going to win 2-1. Everyone will be happy again, you will see. We are Leeds.

2

13 Sep 2026 13:28:31
Regarding Newcastle and Villa.

I think Newcastle will be fine. Howe did well with Newcastle but it looks like they either bought the wrong players for his system or he forced the wrong system on the players he told them he wanted. Look at Elanga and Wissa. Reborn, using their pace for counter-attacking. Pardo will be interesting as a new forward. They have a youngish squad that will probably get better with enough knowhow from Elanga, Wissa, Schar, Botman, Hall etc. Either Jaissle happens to play this system or is just fluid enough to play to the squad's strengths based on early evidence. Either way, fair enough.

Villa bought well, but arguably not enough. They have Maatsen out for what sounds like a long time according to Emery.

Pau Torres' hamstring went, Grade remains to be seen. Cash was absent with a minor knock. But it means Mings is back as a starting cb for a while right now. He's past his best by a ways now. Their back line still looks competent, but no depth if there's one more injury. If it's a bad hamstring for Torres, they'll struggle. In midfield and forward areas they seem fairly stocked. Manzambi is an excellent young player to replace Rogers, Mbaye could be. Jackson is a marginal downgrade on Watkins. The new keeper looks pretty decent. They have Joao Gomes and Goreztka integrating to solidify that midfield in the absence of Onana. Weaker than last year, but still around 12-14th I reckon.

1

13 Sep 2026 16:00:47
Villa have lost Martinez, Digne, Konsa, Tielemans, Rogers and Watkins, all top internationals. Torres and Onana may both be out for months, Maatsen a bit less, Mings is past his best now, and Jackson is nowhere near as good as Watkins imo. The new keeper is Ok, and Manzambi looks promising, but what with the additional demands of Champions League football, I think they may really struggle.

Newcastle are not as badly off, but with Guimaraes, Tonali, Gordon and Woltemade gone, their engine room is much depleted. The improved form of Wissa and Elanga gives them some hope, but I see them as mid table at best.

I wonder who is actually lying? Robbie Evans or Paraag Marathe? Interesting stuff today.

2

12 Sep 2026 08:34:14
I was very pleased to read that contract talks with Daniel are progressing! Hopefully, all will be tied up very soon, giving good stability to our great club!

1

12 Sep 2026 14:43:50
I got a feeling that it'll be sorted out during the long international break.
Evans stated that they do want Farke to commit to a new contract.
Likewise, Farke wants to continue at Leeds.

There's so many little details in contracts of managers and players these days that they can drag on a bit. It's certainly nothing about waiting to see how he fares with results at the start of this season.

Both parties are aligned, which is the most important part of getting his contract signed.

2

12 Sep 2026 14:53:20
If we can achieve mid table this season, I think DF would want commitment on squad strengthening.
We have done well last season, and improved the quality of the squad again this summer.
We are only going to tread water, or go backwards, if we don't keep bringing in the players required to bring us up to a top half side challenging for Europe.

1

12 Sep 2026 15:22:26
Realistically, we are only two windows away, if used sensibly, from Europe. Do you really want Farke in charge of Europe and that revenue?

2

12 Sep 2026 15:46:06
Tell yer what, that Hull manager, wow.

Hull currently top.

Chelsea 1 vs Hull 2, what the heck.

Their manager is having a blinder of a seez so far.

1

12 Sep 2026 15:48:22
For me, it would depend on whom the Leeds hierarchy could actually get instead of Farke, Aus.

1

12 Sep 2026 16:22:12
To answer your question, Aus, yes, I would really like to be in Europe with Daniel Farke, because, by implication, for that to have happened he would have done a special job.

3

12 Sep 2026 17:06:36
Don't think any success will come by changing manager.
All the great teams, who have not totally bought success, did it with stability and building year on year.
Look at Arsenal under Wenger and then Arteta.
We need to keep building and investing.
Top half and challenging for Europe is the number one goal atm.

4

12 Sep 2026 18:27:54
It took Brighton four seasons to find relative safety season after season, and Brentford were similar. For some reason we're expecting to do it sooner than that?

3

12 Sep 2026 19:10:20
Brighton have had 3 managers in past 7 seasons. They change managers.

Bournemouth, Forest, Brentford, many others too.

1

12 Sep 2026 19:34:22
Yes, because those managers were poached by bigger clubs, Potter to Chelsea for example.

2

12 Sep 2026 19:42:43
Yes OP, but you miss the point. They have actually improved each time they have replaced their poached manager.
