Overall a good Xmas period. Good haul of points and some good performances especially away wins.
We were off it today but at least they didn't do a double over us.
Weeks rest now before hull.
We are looking for above 90 points and we have over 50 already.
Very good position to be in.
It looked a lot bleaker after our poor show last Xmas.
So all in all I am pleased.
1.) 01 Jan 2025 18:37:45
WB How is it a week rest when it's 3 days? 7 days in a week.
2.) 01 Jan 2025 19:19:18
It is a week for the first team. I think there will be a few changes for Harrogate.
Don't you?
3.) 01 Jan 2025 19:38:20
We play again on Saturday the 4th v Hull [away]. We play Harrogate on the 11th. After this weekend, the first team might get a bit of a rest.
4.) 01 Jan 2025 20:04:02
WB Are you expecting an Einstein Rosen bridge over the Humber or something? Save for positive cosmological time dilations emanating from the ether over East Yorkshire, I'll maintain my position for not even half a week's rest.
5.) 01 Jan 2025 20:22:08
I would hope Farke plays new signings and the young uns against 'arrogate.
Give Schmidt, crew, chambers, guilovogi, wober, ramazani and whoever else a bit of a run out.
6.) 01 Jan 2025 21:15:02
George I bet you ein stein most of our first team get a good rest over the next week.
7.) 01 Jan 2025 22:01:22
WB We're going for the Championship ? title no chance. Similar team on Saturday against Hull. Rest only begins after 3 points earned there.
8.) 01 Jan 2025 22:52:30
My apologies George I thought the hull and Harrogate games were the apposite way around. So after Saturday and a stonking win over the tigers. The team will have a week off.

Another poor performance last night. Everything was very slow only got going the last 10 mins when we were desperate.
Piroe was a man missing again. Even his usual finishing has drained away. Only a few weak efforts on goal.
Going back to a man City and harlaand analogy when they are on top form and playing well they can afford a player like harlaand. Not contributing or adding to build ups and general play.
But at the moment man City are struggling in games and they have a player down.
That's how I feel with piroe at number 9.
He doesn't contribute to play he doesn't occupy defenders. He has never one a header or held the ball up for on rushing attackers. And he is not very brave and doesn't get stuck in with defenders.
But in a luton game at home we can carry him and find him a bit of space.
I think he can do a job at 10 but there are better candidates .
We have to remember with strikers it's not that they miss chances it's that the are in the right place to miss those chances.
As soon as two proper number 9 bam and mj were on the pitch we saw running in behind chances at the near post and runs across goal.
Also after the leeds game I watched forest and villa. Someone said after one of our games that this leeds side is a prem side.
On watching both games I would say absolutely nothing like. The speed of the passing the athleticism the skill in tight space and bravery of passing and receiving the ball in tight areas from both sides is miles from where leeds are at the moment.
Up shot of this is we need a proper number 9 to link up play. To occupy defenders to give our 10 and wingers something to hit in the box.
I do not think piroe or bam or mj at the mo fit the bill.
1.) 15 Dec 2024 13:06:02
Good post BW.
2.) 15 Dec 2024 13:08:05
Very good and interesting post WB.
I was hoping start of season that Joseph would be that player but apart from glimpses he’s either not ready or not good enough.
3.) 15 Dec 2024 14:41:38
. and there's the rub Ben with the first 3 words of your good post
' another poor performance ' from Leeds under Farke. There has been wayyy too many poor awayyy performances under DF in past two seasons; that is unacceptable!
And its interesting that you compare Forest (and Villa) with Leeds ; it was only a few seasons that Leeds were better or on par with them
Great credit to their owners they have reaĺly progressed.
Nuno, my coach pick for Leeds in 2023 has been an absolute revelation for Forest . half way into season currently 4th ahead of Man Citeh.
4.) 15 Dec 2024 14:51:42
Corky. the EPL coach conumdrum question is starting to feel very premature.
Are we even sure DF will get Leeds top 2 in Champo?
This is definitely ' last chance saloon ' season for DF
Our owners / hirarachy also need to / must realise for Jan window that this LUFC team / squad has obvious weaknesses CF, GK. and no CAM.
to ensure top 2 finish!
5.) 15 Dec 2024 15:32:56
Baz every team in this league has multiple weaknesses. Fortunately we have less than the rest. And it’s not even an argument.
6.) 15 Dec 2024 15:49:59
Sheff Utd have less weaknesses than Leeds Utd in their first 11.
7.) 15 Dec 2024 16:22:02
I've been consistently shot down for calling out Piroe and hope people start to see for what he is; and impact sub and nothing more.
He loses the ball more than arranson, has little to no touches of the ball for long periods of play, sometimes a full 45 minutes. Gets tackled by defenders too easily, doesn't run or charge down opponents.
Plonk him Infront of net and send a ball in, he's your man. Anything else he is poor at best.
AND even worse, we seem to have changed our tactics to suit the tap-it-in style of goals, Vs wallopers from 20 yards out. That suits James, Joseph, Gnonto, ramazani and a few others.
Notice how Joseph and Gnonto are out of sorts and the full squad, except James, have poor accuracy from long shots they used to score? They're not practicing those shots and it's why teams can do easily close us down.
8.) 15 Dec 2024 16:27:44
Coaching and farkes tactics can only do so much. A striker was bought for good championship money to lead the line but that player does not fit and no one could have predicted bams injuries. Or the fact that mj would be close but just not there yet.
The hardest part of football is the putting the ball in the net. And against tight defences it's even harder.
Our choices at 9 and 10 are not good enough.
With forest baz they bought so many new players when they got to the prem. They betted the house on staying up. I think there is only one out of the championship side left.
I know I probably would not have and of our strikers in the prem.
Who would you keep for the prem?
9.) 15 Dec 2024 16:40:38
Nuno doing well for now with Forest but was very ineffective at Spuds. Why would he of been good for us? That being him actually wanting the job in the first place.
10.) 15 Dec 2024 17:05:00
Farke needs to start Rama and Manor Solomon. (and drop the woefully undeperforming half hearted WG and also BA)
At the moment LUFC are over reliant on often Man of Match DJ
We and he needs others to step up too!
11.) 15 Dec 2024 17:06:22
Ben. let's get to EPL first.
at moment its becoming less of a given than I initially expected.
12.) 15 Dec 2024 17:47:12
OP
Nuno great for Wolves doing very well at Forest. what's NOT to like?
" very ineffective" you say?
. err he had a 48% win rate at Spuds.
13.) 15 Dec 2024 22:49:50
Hold the phone, Baz is on the verge of changing that prediction of us winning the league. Come on Baz you know you want to change it, what’s it going to be? Play Offs and we lose in the final or do we just fade out completely and not in the top six at all.
Just to remind you we’ve got about 10 useless players in our squad, you can guess who the best one is.
Admit Baz we are not going to be promoted are we?
If Nuno was so good at Spurs then why did they sack him? Errr.
14.) 16 Dec 2024 00:00:28
Hold the line OP. I'll let you know in 4 matches time after 3 further away games for Farke Up
As for Nuno. good managers get sacked as well fella.
15.) 16 Dec 2024 06:16:55
We’ll see about that Baz as your flip flopping forecasts are always misplaced.
That is guaranteed fella.
07 Dec 2024 23:43:19
Having watched manpoo go down to forest I was just thinking. If Chris Woods had a long trench coat a flat cap and a capstan full strength in the corner of his mouth. Could he be in the up coming peaky blinders film.
I know how these kiwis like being extras in things.!
1.) 08 Dec 2024 04:51:47
"Chris Wòods" was a decent gk for QPR and Norwich young Ben
As for "Chris Wood" ( with no s) can we have him back please.
2.) 08 Dec 2024 10:02:00
Sorry about the errant s baz. Chris Woods was a good keeper fell foul when the back pass rule came in. Turns out he couldn't kick the ball.
Chris Wood has really turned things around at forest. I thought his last year or so at Burnley he was washed up and he struggled to get in the side but he is now back to his best. Oh for him up front for us now!
12 Nov 2024 00:29:55
So the rumours are that the boy Lineker is leaving match of the day. I always thought he was a good replacement for lynam Coleman and hill.
Will be sad to see him go. Probably the last of the real footballers that played on muddy pitches and didn't mind getting the odd kick.
Some of his stories of gazza and playing with Maradona will never be bettered.
I cannot imagine who will take over. All the rest of football seems very groomed and safe.
I would like Peter crouch bu I cannot see it.
Any thoughts?
1.) 12 Nov 2024 01:30:27
Yep Lineker was a decent to pretty good MOTD presenter ; I also like Mark Chapman on MOTD2 so he would maybe be a worthy successor?
Imo smooth Des Lynam and the imperious Brian Moore the very BEST football presenters.
And
As for football match commentators . the best Brian Moore ( again ) Barry Davies, Hugh John, the iconic Kenneth Wolstenholme, Peter Jones ( Radio 2 ) , John Motson, Alan Parry, Martin Tyler, John Helm, Tony Gubba. my top 10.
2.) 12 Nov 2024 02:59:40
David Coleman too.
3.) 12 Nov 2024 07:12:51
WB The job vacancy is tailor made for Eni Aluko imo.
4.) 12 Nov 2024 07:21:20
Most people will want Chapman. Odds on it’s a woman, viewing figures will fall off a cliff, and the show will be dropped again eventually. He’s been great has Lineker. Still loved Des, Hill and Hansen and Lawro tho.
5.) 12 Nov 2024 08:37:15
I've been around long enough, seen and heard em all, Agree with Baz on this one. Brian Moore all day long.
6.) 12 Nov 2024 09:13:01
Absolutely 100 Revie The Great
Brian Moore la creme de la creme.
7.) 12 Nov 2024 09:16:38
Please George, don't even think it!
She's more useless behind the mic than she was on the pitch - and that's saying something!
8.) 12 Nov 2024 09:21:26
And if any of you have your thoughs/ opinions on your favourite world cup, i was 2yo when England won it so obviously can't remember it. but my top 3 would be.
1 Argentina 78
2 Italia 90
3 Spain 82
my worst would be usa 94, south africa 2010 and Qatar. in my opinion a bag of bob.
9.) 12 Nov 2024 09:38:55
Gabby possibly have a feeling they will have a lady presenter.
10.) 12 Nov 2024 10:27:06
The list is endless Clive Tyldesley, Gerry Sindstat, Alan Parry and my favourite, Elton Welsby.
11.) 12 Nov 2024 12:04:08
Good call Revie the GREAT
My fave World Cups
1st England 1966.nuff said
2nd Mexico 1970.the best ever team Brazil . an absolute joyyyy
3rd Mexico 1986.Lineker on fire. great apart from one thing
Quite extraordinary ( aka dodgy) that Mexico staged 2 World cups in spacd of 16 years.
{Ed007's Note - The '86 World Cup was meant to be being held in Columbia but FIFA extended the team count and Columbia didn't have the logistics/infrastructure/money to cope so announced they would no longer be hosting the tournament. There were a few other bids including the US who FIFA weren't getting on with so they gave it to Mexico simply because they were in the same region, they had hosted the tournament quite recently and they had shown they had everything in place to handle it.}
12.) 12 Nov 2024 12:07:25
. shout out also to
1978 Argentina. greatest atmosphere, great goals and matched . just no England
1990 Italy. Nessun Dorma . again great vibe tournament . Englands best golden chance to win 2nd World Cup.
13.) 12 Nov 2024 12:07:48
And the robot wars dude who’s name eludes me……?
14.) 12 Nov 2024 12:29:30
Cheers for info Ed007 re Columbia.
Bright : Jonathon Pearce I believe.
{Ed007's Note - No probs Baz????
15.) 12 Nov 2024 12:47:59
I watched every single game in 82.
90 my fav. Followed by Qatar. Sa the worst. 66 to young. 86 good.
Good info Ed ?.
{Ed007's Note - ????
16.) 12 Nov 2024 13:21:07
In response to your favourite World Cup Revie;
1st Mexico 70 (the first tournament I watched)
2nd Italia 90 (so nearly England)
3rd West Germany 74 (so nearly King Billy! )
17.) 12 Nov 2024 13:37:58
1982 all day long.
They didn’t win it but that Brazil team with Zico Eder Facao and Socrates were unbelievable. 90 a close second.
18.) 12 Nov 2024 13:58:10
David Coleman for me.
For only 1 piece of glorious commentary I will never forget :
CLARKE ONE - NIL
1972.
19.) 12 Nov 2024 16:11:41
Good call Tony.
20.) 12 Nov 2024 23:23:22
If we’re talking about World Cups then it’s Italia 90, mainly because I went to it. Unforgettable with so many emotions, I loved every minute of it.
We weren’t that good tbf and rode our luck, but it was an incredible journey and one I’ll never forget.
{Ed007's Note - USA '94, Diana Ross runs up in the opening ceremony to take a penalty, missed and the goal still broke - that was the death if international football.
07 Nov 2024 15:02:12
Latte lath or similar is what we want up front.
Someone who can create something out of nothing. Someone who's pace frightens the bejesus to of defenders.
Someone who will score all types of goals.
That's what we want.
Not much to ask!
We plucked yeboah out of nowhere.
Tony! We need a Tony!
1.) 07 Nov 2024 16:28:51
Good post Ben agreed.
2.) 07 Nov 2024 17:31:25
And we have only needed him 3 years now, so think positively? Seriously though it's very clear to see now, Danny cannot break teams down tactically. Keep doing what he's always done.
3.) 07 Nov 2024 21:05:21
We’ve not had a true number 10 since Saiz. Pablo was superb but was a converted winger.
4.) 09 Nov 2024 09:53:26
It’s clear that this is one thing that we all agree on! We do, and have, lacked the benefits of a creative, incisive 10, and a clinical, but bullying, pacy 9. For all of Aaronsen’s energy, press ability and breaking pace, he does not have the creativity to split defences at the lift of his head. Nor do Piroe or MJ have the broad spectrum of qualities that make a top quality 9, despite both being quality in their own strength areas. Summer is gone, and January ain’t the time to acquire either of those. So Farke is left with the hand he’s been dealt, and has to make the best of it. Perhaps our financial predicament may have improved sufficiently to buy both next year for the PL!

I cannot see much change to the team for the second half of the season. Mez will still be in goal and he will be as he has done in the first half. Bit good and a bit bad. With a full compliment of players at our disposal and with the points we have aleady it's a 9 from me.
I say north of 100 points 1st or second.
13 Jan 2025 11:28:51
Oldbri. Young players sometimes have dips in form that's how things go. Consistency come with age and experience. And he his only a full international because the previous Italy manager was keen to play him. Normally he would have been waiting for his call up.
I think expect too much from 20 something players. They are not all archies.
12 Jan 2025 13:24:15
Gyabi looked a decent prospect when he came into the youth team.
But when I've seen in in the first team or with Plymouth he is off the pace.
With Solomon I would like to see him complete a full season unscathed until we think about signing.
He is showing his quality now he is fit but do we think he is back to his prem best?
12 Jan 2025 13:03:53
They are still very young. Willy has just had one of those seasons so far. Lots of industry but not much to show for it. A couple of shots rattling the woodwork and another few missed with last minute blocks. Just not had a good run of productive games. He is at the start of a long contract so maybe he is feeling the pressure of new expectation.
Also his big mate cree has left may have knocked his confidence a little.
All have a number of years of development still.
07 Jan 2025 13:29:05
Op I would like an experienced no. 9 on loan to play as an alternative to piroe. As the blackburn game shows we need someone to rough defenders up and hold the ball up piroe doesn't offer any of that. Mj is still too raw at the moment but does hold the ball better than piroe.
Goal keeper is a tricky spot to fill because you can move to a new club and then not play for months. Everyone is looking for game time if they move at this time of the season.
As I've said before mes is a talented lad but his confidence and decision making is off. Maybe his confidence has not fully recovered from our bad season in the prem.
He seems a split second too slow. Whether it is second guessing himself.
