Plettenburg reporting Nico Elvedi and Leeds United have reached a full agreement over a contract until 2029.

Elvedi very open to move to the Premier League before Deadline Day. Leeds are preparing an offer and are expected to submit it soon. #LUFC.

Lads and lasses, hearing rumblings of Mr R. Leao again this morning.

Reported around €50m and circa €10m p/y package.

Now don’t get me wrong, that's huge money.

However, and hear me out.

He is a player who can play in possibly 3 positions, LW/CF/CAM.

So given the additional revenue we would undoubtably gain through shirt sales world wide, is it actually that impossible of a deal to be done?

I don’t personally think it’s one that gets done, but there’s surely food for thought there.

Agent talk sadly.

3

13 Aug 2026 16:11:18
I get that, but it just got me thinking.

Rather than signing 2-3 players to fill, for example, the LW/CAM, is it viable to go big on 1 who can do both alongside the likes of Okafor, Wilson and others?

2

13 Aug 2026 16:36:22
Not for me. It's a prime 'opportunistic' signing at 35m euros, or even better, a loan with an option (our turn to benefit from loan/options for once) on the last day of the window.

If they get that much for him earlier, then it's not one we've missed out on at all.

2

13 Aug 2026 17:12:18
350k a week.

Only a handful of clubs in Europe would give that salary, and Leao has been a huge disappointment at Milan, so should be nowhere close. Never ever in a discussion about players suited to LUFC.

Gelhardt has agreed a ryr deal at Hull, expected to go through in the next 24hrs.

2

13 Aug 2026 05:42:16
How much?

0

13 Aug 2026 06:36:07
Around £4 to £5m.

1

13 Aug 2026 08:10:59
Anything better than nowt.

0

13 Aug 2026 08:50:00
Reports saying 4m. Glad to bring that saga to an end.

1

13 Aug 2026 09:45:16
£ 5 million is okish for Joffy in his final year. He has talent and may be quite useful for Hull at EPL level.

2

13 Aug 2026 10:32:16
£6.5mil according to The Athletic.

1

13 Aug 2026 10:36:32
We could do with the Brighton geezer negotiating our transfer fees. That seems about half price for Joffy at current prices, his age, and goalscoring record. Think Championship is his level, but sure £8/9 million closer valuation.

2

13 Aug 2026 12:48:00
W should get around £6.5m - think that includes add ons, and Wigan get around £1.3m.

1

13 Aug 2026 13:15:50
Nice payout for the Latics!

2

12 Aug 2026 13:27:53
Perri linked to OM now - he hasn't yet gone to Torino.

1

12 Aug 2026 14:11:03
Apparently his medical is scheduled for tomorrow for the Torino move, so the French better act fast.

Off them Perri & £15m for Paixao.

6

12 Aug 2026 14:20:43
Paixao sweetener!

2

12 Aug 2026 16:31:00
Suggested that OM want Perri as no. 1 and want a permanent deal. They'll know him from his time at Lyon. If true, that would be a much better outcome.

12 Aug 2026 11:33:05
Joe Tiffany on X reporting that Leeds are in contact with Geertruida over a permanent deal. Can cover the whole of the back line and valued at around €20m.

4

12 Aug 2026 13:45:29
Solicited an opinion from one of my best mates who's a Sunderland fan. He said they liked him, but the original 25m euros Leipzig were asking for made them baulk. He said he was quite versatile and played rb and cb for them. He also said that he was two-footed, so although he didn't play lb for them, he believed he could have done.

If it's 20m euros (£17m) , I'd say do it in a heartbeat. He could be the Swiss army knife across the backline, so Bogle/Justin/Geetruida for rb.

Rodon/Muharemovic/Bijol/Geetruida/Justin/Ampadu at cb.

Gudmundsson/Geetruida/ Lienou at lb. Sell Bornauw for £9-10m if he wants to go, if we can do this.

3

12 Aug 2026 14:13:24
Forget Ampadu as a CB, it's never gunna happen in the Prem.

5

13 Aug 2026 02:03:57
I'd say a priority is a LWB.

Just need a left-footed player in that position, as a starter and off the bench, and it certainly isn't a CB who can play LB or a right-footed RB.

1

13 Aug 2026 15:42:14
Joe Tiffany isn't reputable.

0

12 Aug 2026 10:45:04
A few sources reporting that the club is likely to bring in a couple of players over the next 2 weeks. Most likely a back up keeper and a CB. Any other additions are probably going to be late on in the window.

2

12 Aug 2026 13:48:42
If we do Geertruida and a backup keeper, I think it then relies on outgoings like Bornauw, Ramazani, Perri (loan sadly) , Gelhardt and, hopefully, Piroe to do anything else.

But I think that will happen, and then we'll probably be in the market for a 9-10 in the closing stages.

Something opportunistic, like Raphinha turned out to be (not saying any player would have the same impact) .

Or we could just do Geertruida, Flemming, and a backup keeper, and call the incomings window done and dusted right now, but that seems too logical.

2

12 Aug 2026 14:35:49
I'd probably take Geert, Fleming, and a keeper, Ealing.

3

13 Aug 2026 02:06:38
If we cannot get an Espi loan, Fleming would be a good DCL back-up. Doesn't bring anything new to the party, but maybe we haven't quite got the money for the big player who would take us to the next level up top, with a bit of pace and able to play off DCL when needed.

11 Aug 2026 20:49:30
Quite a few posts beginning to appear.
One is that Hull are back in the market for Joffy. Hull are concerned that too many other clubs are interested and that although they wanted to leave the decision until later in the window they might have to bring that decision forward.

The other, if true, is that Bournauw will go to Hamburg on loan with no obligation to buy. If that is correct then we are bonkers. If he leaves we should make some money on him. If not, we've given in again.

4

11 Aug 2026 22:24:58
Might work in our favour if we can get a decent loan fee for him and then sell him for more than 5m after a strong season in the Bundesliga.

3

11 Aug 2026 23:36:50
Saw some recent quotes from Hull manager that they defo want to sign Joffy ..

Question is the transfer fee .. think it's going to be a somewhat underwhelming final figure.

4

11 Aug 2026 23:38:26
Bonkers indeed, Dune, re proposed Bornauw deal.. Very disappointing.

3

12 Aug 2026 06:54:52
5 for Jiffy. And min 12 for Born. Obligation to buy. Not option.

1

12 Aug 2026 07:28:36
Agree, Aus. £5m plus for Joffy and into double figures for Bournauw.
We've been through this no obligation to buy farce before. Wober, JH, Ramz, etc. None worked out to our advantage. If we don't get a decent offer for Ramz, keep him and use him as an impact player off the bench. That worked well in the Championship.

5

12 Aug 2026 08:09:34
He hasn't returned to training. So let him rot and not play all season. Unless he learns his lesson.

1

12 Aug 2026 08:10:06
We very much need Bornaux. We very much need 4 central defenders in the squad, especially as we are at our best with 3 CBs in the starting line up.

Bornaux should look to force his way in as a starter, not a sub, with LUFC, and be told he is staying.

Keep him! .. No nonsensical loan deals please.

6

12 Aug 2026 08:32:19
Agree re Bourn.

2

12 Aug 2026 10:46:56
Whilst 12 is a push for Bornauw, 10 is not unreasonable, but it should not be a loan deal. If he goes, we're going to have to replace him by laying out a similar amount of cash right now, and we should make the Hamburgers do the same to keep our books in balance. We should tell them it's 100% up front or no deal.

1

12 Aug 2026 11:21:36
Why loan Bornauw after such a good pre-season? We'll then need to replace him with someone better if we let him go, as replacing him with someone similar makes no sense.

For me, if he goes, we need to replace him with someone who can play CB and LB, so we get cover all-round. A left footed James Justin type player would be ideal, and give us that flex without having to buy 2 players.

James Justin was one of the players we bought last year that I didn't expect much from, but looked solid where ever he played on the pitch.

Does he have a left footed brother by any chance?

3

12 Aug 2026 12:06:23
Hugo Bueno at Wolves would be good, though he's more a dedicated LB.

1

12 Aug 2026 12:34:42
Didn't realise that Ramz hadn't turned up for training, Aus. Thought he was excluded and told to train on his own.
Just discipline him, and stop paying his wages until we get a sale at our price. Sounds like another Djed Spence clone.

1

12 Aug 2026 12:51:35
I wonder if, were we to sell Bornauw, do we really need a new CB to replace him. We need to replace him, no question, but it could be by buying another full back and having Justin/Ampadu/Creswell as the CB depth. That does not really solve the issue, as we'd need two new full backs, somewhere we've notoriously struggled to fill on both flanks. Indeed, Justin, Bogle and Gudmundsson are the best we've had on both sides for such a long time, perhaps even since Kelly/Harte.

Personally, I think the best move, if Bornauw wants to go, is sell him for £10m. Put that into a £4m bid for Davies from Spurs.

I get he signed a year extension, but that was before they bought Van Hecke, Senesi, Robertson. I get that they are looking to sell Spence and Romero, but at CB he'd be behind Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Danso and perhaps even Takai. At LB he'd be behind Udogie and Robertson.

We could offer him more minutes, certainly in the first season of a two-year deal, and the camaraderie of the Welsh lads with Rodon, James, Wilson, Ampadu.

Bornauw's had a good pre-season. Is that him resolved to trying to get in the lineup more, or putting himself in the shop window? Up to interpretation, I guess.

1

12 Aug 2026 13:31:30
Bornauw himself is pushing for the move, as he wants to be more than a backup, but Hamburg are skint and are only offering a low fee. Might end up being a loan if anything. If he does go, we are more likely to look at a versatile player who can fill in at the flanks as well as CB.

2

12 Aug 2026 13:52:15
The only way I'd do a loan for them is with a very aggressive obligation to Hamburg. E.g. £2m loan fee + £9m if you stay up. And they take his entire salary. All in, Leeds bring back £11m for him. They'll likely baulk at that. But that's where Leeds have to be. He's not even in the list of players we're actively looking to move. Far more, if the right offer comes in, he can go.

Regarding the game time as well, if he's having as good a pre-season as mooted and we keep playing 5 at the back, I'd expect the odd suspension and injury to give him plenty more opportunities than he had last season. Justin was used a couple times centrally, but feels more likely he's needed across at lb at times too.

2

12 Aug 2026 22:15:50
So much fantasy talked in here. Bornauw is going on loan, all about the loan fee now.

2

10 Aug 2026 22:38:04
A number of sites toting Ayase Ueda, along with Brighton, Newcastle and Villa.

I did see a PJ from Rotterdam a number of weeks ago, but nothing transpired.

I hope this has legs, but I am not convinced if he came and went, fingers are crossed to solve the search for cover up front.

3

11 Aug 2026 01:13:05
Top scorer in Eredivisie last season with 25 goals from 31 games, so potentially a good acquisition. Allegedly Feyenoord value him at EUR25M (£21.3M) , with Fenerbahce having already submitted an opening bid, and Brighton also interested.

2

11 Aug 2026 13:11:15
A nearly 28-year-old, and the Dutch league is the highest he's ever done it?

No thanks.

1

12 Aug 2026 08:09:59
No from me too, itk.

0

10 Aug 2026 20:38:33
Harvey Elliott being spoke of.

1

10 Aug 2026 20:55:50
By who, Chris?
Certainly someone I'd be happy we were interested in.

1

10 Aug 2026 21:18:51
Alloutlutc saying it's a serious rumour, so who knows, but yeah would be a good addition.

1

10 Aug 2026 22:17:47
Saw this a couple of weeks ago. Really feel sorry for him. He was loaned out to Villa last year. He's clearly looking for a good fit, but would be surprised if Leeds would take him on (unless a loan) . Reckon Leeds would retain funds where we have a greater need. A good player, hope he gets looked after somewhere.

2

10 Aug 2026 22:20:09
I read he was probably off to Leipzig (maybe Dortmund - one of the two) .

1

11 Aug 2026 01:15:02
Would be good on loan with an option to buy.

2

11 Aug 2026 07:16:59
I like Elliot, but he would have to sign a new contract at Liverpool if he came on loan, as his contract finishes in July 2027.

1

11 Aug 2026 07:21:01
A rumour I don't believe says that we have already booked his medical!

1

11 Aug 2026 21:47:34
I'd prefer Ryan Kent.

1

12 Aug 2026 13:32:05
Another we are definitely interested in, but most likely a loan toward the back end of the window if anything at all.

0

13 Aug 2026 02:10:08
Wouldn't touch Elliot myself.

Hasn't been able to step up at Liverpool or Villa to claim a starting place. He's lightweight, and Liverpool overcharge for every sale.
