Parker leaves Burnley! Great timing. Whether we see an improvement in their performance Friday is doubtful; they are 20pts for a reason.
30 Apr 2026 11:11:26
Very odd timing. Why not just go at the end of the season?
30 Apr 2026 11:18:53
Think it says they have someone already lined up, Dave?
Gerrard rumours.
29 Apr 2026 20:29:25
Whilst it's understandable that we are all nervous because we are not yet safe, there's one thing we need to remember.
Spurs and West Ham need to win their remaining matches and so far this season only the Hammers have strung back to back wins once.
Spurs have got Villa this weekend away from home and the Hammers have got Brentford followed by the Arsenal - all of those teams are going for Europe or the title.
That's one hell of an ask for both clubs - even if one of them manages it, it's highly unlikely that both of them will.
Relax guys, take a few deep breaths and all will be well. : )
29 Apr 2026 21:31:30
Great post, Cleggy. Was going to post something very similar, whilst it's not surprising to doubt or be concerned with our own team's performance, it's what we naturally do, however, on the run in.
Put yourself in the Spuds fan base shoes.
They are third bottom of 20 in the form league; they will be lucky to get a single point from their remaining games, and that's against us.
Bournemouth away was a tough, tough fixture and we got a well earned point. I think we can definitely win away, and if we can't, they definitely cannot win the points needed to keep them up in my humble (personal) opinion.
29 Apr 2026 21:35:00
Right with you in having that perspective, Cleggy. It'll be reet! (Fingers still crossed tho!)
29 Apr 2026 22:49:15
Too true, Brighty. )
And you're correct, Class, that point against Bournemouth was hard fought, and shows that we've got real spirit. Have Spurs got the same? Not on the evidence of this year!
30 Apr 2026 10:38:57
My only fear is that Villa go into their match with one eye on their return Europa fixture. Hopefully it will not distract them too much.
They have a job to do!
30 Apr 2026 11:03:46
9 On the other hand, football doesn't always run to form, last week when Florists, Spuds and Sham all won whilst we only drew being a case in point. We've got 4 games left, 2 against relegation rivals, 1 against a team pushing for European qualification, and 1 against an already relegated team with nothing to lose and maybe a point to prove who've already beaten us once this season. If the same scenario were to play out this weekend, we'd be 16th, with Sham 1 point behind, and Spuds 3 points behind, both with home games against us still to come. I'd rather be in our position than theirs, but it ain't over til it's over. I never like the words "must win game", but Friday night is definitely a "must not lose".
Better news that Spuds have now lost Simons and Solanke to injury, probably for the rest of the season.
29 Apr 2026 10:11:55
What’s been worrying me is if we lose to Spurs and Hammers.
We have to beat Burnley, as Brighton home could possibly be a defeat as they're going for Europe.
Three more points and Tottenham will need 3 wins to overtake us. 😥
29 Apr 2026 11:25:34
Bingo.
29 Apr 2026 11:56:23
Where is all this positivity that the FA Cup was supposed to bring us since the loss? It's been nothing but it. Many on here were happy to play in the cup, at possible expense of going down. Never mind, I still say we will stay up.
29 Apr 2026 12:18:27
Whitey, pal, last weekend's results, with Forest, Spuds and West Ham all winning, were a big blow.
And I believe it did not help our focus and confidence with the FA Cup semi game.
Let's be clear, all three clubs have better players and squads, especially Forest and Spurs.
29 Apr 2026 12:28:18
My mate, the barman, has promised me Villa will beat Spurs and spam have got easily the hardest run in. Relax, lads. Or not.
29 Apr 2026 13:07:20
Move along, please, nothing to see here, well, except maybe the distant iceberg of second season syndrome, which, no doubt, will be a moot point for some. Have faith in the boys, it's gonna be fine, people. 😁
29 Apr 2026 13:54:42
Nothing to see with FA semi, if I recall, Vid? The man in the know utwdtp.
29 Apr 2026 14:18:26
Davey, ..
What was your overall assessment of Leeds United's performance and result in FA Cup semi?
I would be interested to know your thoughts on it.
29 Apr 2026 16:40:18
We bottled it, Baz, quite simply. Chelsea did to us what we shoulda done to them. The midfield underperformed, and the defence looked reticent to look forward because of a lack of options, leading to playing ourselves into trouble, as with Struijk's mistake for the goal. It looked promising at the start of the second half. How did their keeper get to Stach's strike, wow. We looked everything we didn't against Man U or the home game against Chelsea, where we got in their faces from the off.
Ao was playing so deep, and he is normally really offensive. BA was off it and should have scored early on. Plus points. It wasn't working, and DF reacted for the second half. We created a couple of good chances, and their keeper was good. Also, again, the bloody dark arts were employed. How are teams able to get away with this tactic? We have been victims more than once. On the whole, a "meh" performance, where too many didn't turn up.
29 Apr 2026 16:43:36
Ps Aus, I aint a man in the know or pretend to be, just a bonkers Leeds lover giving my opinion, which is no better or worse than you, but lashing out when things dont go as hoped is a bit playground really.
29 Apr 2026 17:15:32
Agree, Baz and Aus, now we could have a couple of players out still, we do have BA playing, sure many will moan about again and again. Onwards and upwards. 2-1 to Leeds.
30 Apr 2026 11:14:52
My view was, if we had won, great, but I'd be happier staying in the Prem for the financial stability of the club.
The worry was, we never really showed up in the game.

What player changes (if any)
and team formation would you like to see for the crucial home 🏡 match vs Burnley?
Will Stach start in midfield?
5 or 4 at the back?
DCL and Nmecha to start upfront?
And any results predictions from you guys?
I am going for a narrow Leeds win.
Leeds 1 Vs Burnley 0.
West Ham draw at Brentford nil nil.
Villa beat Spuds 1 nil.
Forest beat Chelsea 2 nil.
28 Apr 2026 17:25:53
Although Chelsea have been poor, Baz, they may get a bounce with reaching the Cup Final. As much as I dislike them, I hope they best Forest and Spurs in the run in. Purely for selfish reasons, of course.
28 Apr 2026 18:30:00
Yes LUFCfeath, Chelsea beating Spuds and Forest would be very helpful for us.
But Forest are now scoring for fun, with on fire Gibbs-White and the return of Chris Wood.
28 Apr 2026 21:01:49
Personally I'd drop Ampadu. He was so bad at the weekend, and kept dropping us deeper n deeper.
Bring in Longstaff and go four at the back.
Midfield trio of Stach, Tanaka and Longstaff.
28 Apr 2026 21:51:31
4 at back and dropping Ampadu.. Like it, Corkey
Your attacking midfield trio of Stach, AO and Longstaff also assist and score crucial goals..
Are you proposing a front 3 of DCL, Nmecha and Okafor?
It's Burnley at home, not PSG away. Leeds/Farke should pick an attacking team.
28 Apr 2026 22:35:38
I'd go along with your scoreline predictions, Baz.
Although I actually think we will put more than one past Burnley.
A victory for us, a defeat for Spurs, then a draw against Spurs the following week, and we are safe - let's think positive, and it will happen. :)
28 Apr 2026 23:14:41
Great minds think alike, Cleggy. 😉
I blooming hope we are both proved correct and Leeds are safe ASAP by match week 36!
As this EPL safety malarkey is uber anxiety-producing.
It also affected one's propensity to properly focus, relax, and enjoy the FA Cup semi-final as much as I would have liked.
With the Leeds United EPL safety scenarios on one's mind throughout the FA Cup semi-final match.
28 Apr 2026 23:31:53
Normally I'd go 5 at the back, but with Gudmundsson out, we don't get the same effect from that line-up with Justin.
If we go with 4 and 2 up top, I'd like to have Okafor and James as the wide players.
Ampadu and Stach are in the middle.
29 Apr 2026 03:36:50
I'd play.
Perri.
Bog rod bij just.
Stach ao long.
Oka Gnonto and namecheck.
Not gonna happen though.
Will be back to normal.
He won't drop Dcl or Ba.
29 Apr 2026 06:59:13
Based on previous experience, I'd expect Burnley to go for a low block 5:4:1 sort of formation, so I'd go with a 3:5:2.
Perri.
Rodon, Bijol, Struijk.
Bogle, Stach, Ampadu, Tanaka, Justin.
Dcl, Okafor.
Possible subs around 60 mins.
Gnonto for Okafor.
Nmecha for Dcl.
Later on, possibly
Longstaff and/or Ba for Stach and/or Tanaka.
We'll all be wrong though.
29 Apr 2026 07:12:15
Canada, I like your attacking line up with 2 pacy wingers DJ and Okafor.
Aus, Perri in goal? Thought you campaigned long and hard for Darlow to replace him in Cup, so why is he in your league line up?
JR, but does that starting line up have the ability to score against and beat a low block?
29 Apr 2026 08:39:05
Oops, Baz. Correct. My bad. Thanks for noticing. Had a bad few days tbh. Def Darlow in goal.
29 Apr 2026 09:12:22
If Burnley play as expected with a deep low block, then James is so ineffective as his speed will be irrelevant and his football brain just doesn't exist. Head down, run and hope.
Games like this are where the waves of screams from fans come for a number 10.
I'd consider trying to fit Stach, Brenda and Tanka in the same lineup against Burnley.
Justin on the left doesn't give you what Gabby does so no print breaking Justin and Bogle off from the right (which I presume he will do) to be less effective on both sides.
29 Apr 2026 09:28:12
Tbh. I think the best we can all hope for is the correct attacking team selection. An understanding of who we are playing, the formation they will play, and a sensible team to break it down and smash it.
This is a game we need 3 points. I hope Farke is spending 12hrs a day watching Burnley away games and doesn't mess up a la Sunderland. And agree, love, no James. Gnonto in good form.
29 Apr 2026 10:16:36
Baz, does my starting line up have the ability to score against and beat a low block? I think it does. Against the way a Scott Parker team are likely to set up, we're not going to score many goals from long balls or set pieces.
We need to get numbers in and around their box, and pull defenders out of position; that's why I've gone heavy in midfield. Put in Gnonto, and going from 3:5 2 to 3:4:3 might be another option. And, like Aus, put Darlow in goal.
29 Apr 2026 10:48:11
Lad, the whole reason for starting with DJ is because of the way Burnley will play. He's fast enough to be very useful against their breakaway attacks, plus he wins his fair share of PKs.
In addition, he will leave the field after 60, allowing BA or Willybtongo at a more tired defender, should we need something late in the game.
29 Apr 2026 11:15:47
Baz, either Gnonto or Nmecha alongside DCL and Okafor for me.
29 Apr 2026 11:30:01
Cheers for feedback, fellas. Good posts.
29 Apr 2026 12:08:54
Maybe I'm missing something, Canada.
I see Burnley as some1 who plays deep in numbers. Pace is best used when space behind can be exploited. I don't see Burnley allowing much space from their back line to their goalkeeper, rendering James useless, as that's all he possesses.
29 Apr 2026 12:30:21
Lad .. very unfair on DJ ..
He is not only about pace on the counter attack..
He can create small pockets of space to get in shots, assist passes, and crosses.
He scores goals from all over the pitch. Many from distance too.
At international level, some in EPL 21/22 season, and 40 plus goals and assists past 2 seasons.
29 Apr 2026 13:57:38
Baz, mate. DJ has not performed all season. Gnonto has, when required. There is no argument on the planet that says DJ before Gnonto. Not for the rest of this season, anyway. He can stake his claim if possible. Next season.
29 Apr 2026 13:59:51
It's more about the sub options, lad.
Bringing James on as a sub does nothing for us, but bringing Willybor Ba against tired defenders does.
29 Apr 2026 14:23:37
Aussie, to be fair, DJ has been injured for most of it.
DJ still has the same number of 25/26 EPL goals as Willy Gnonto and Joel Piroe.
29 Apr 2026 15:44:26
No, Baz. No.
28 Apr 2026 11:22:16
Now that the two FA Cup finalists are known, perhaps the bookies should start to offer odds on which team will be first to employ the bogus goalkeeper injury scam. 😡
28 Apr 2026 14:07:47
Simply take gk to sideline for 30secs. Done. And do more of what Amps did.
27 Apr 2026 13:16:56
Shame about yesterday but ultimately it was merely a distraction. The primary aim this season is survival and we are still on course for that so hopefully we refocus and get the job done on Friday. Don't worry if the 9ers achieve their goals. That won't be the last semi-final we appear in.
27 Apr 2026 15:27:47
Correct, Alf. If we get 3 points on Friday, most of us will look back on yesterday and say "que sera sera".
27 Apr 2026 17:13:40
See what you did there, JR!
27 Apr 2026 17:48:18
We were off it - def. in the first half - and if you don't take your chances when they come, then you can pay for it. But it's good to see the news orgs. criticizing the injury feigning. Doesn't show Chelsea in a good light.
27 Apr 2026 17:52:37
Lads on Overlap, giving out absolutely horrific numbers of amounts of lolly Chelsea are losing.
Surely it's got to be unsustainable.
Absolute cheats.
28 Apr 2026 01:15:21
They declared a loss of £262.4M for the 2024/25 season, but claimed to be compliant with PSR rules and therefore escaped any sanction. That was on top of losses of £155M in 2022/23 and £155,9M in 2020/21.
As you say, sooner or later, those sort of losses have to be unsustainable, and failure to qualify for Europe this season might just be the wrecking ball that brings the house of cards crashing down.
28 Apr 2026 08:48:44
Fingers crossed, JR!
27 Apr 2026 12:24:59
Watching the game again, especially the first half. It is clear we retreated from the off, which left DCL totally isolated and huge gaps in the midfield which they exploited.
Not unreasonable for our mainly young side to freeze, but Chelsea actually younger average age.
I’ve noted this is clearly dictated by our hugely talented, consistent and unbelievably committed skipper Ethan.
I forget he’s still only 25 (I own pants older than that) as he’s seems to around for ages. However, in the absence of other voices, leaders, Ethan does drop deeper and deeper at times, especially when we have been leading games which has resulted in some last minute equalisers, winners and loss of points.
Also playing against his old club, he would have wanted to impress, he certainly was no worse than anyone else on the day, but it’s something I would like Farkey to address over the remaining games, next season.
All of our best performances, have been when playing at pace and wingbacks bombing forwards, we need this type of mindset for the remaining games.
Not a dig at Ethan, who has been brilliant this season but I believe he is the metronome that the rest of the team follows, and we’ve dropped (I believe) valuable points as a result of retreating too soon in previous fixtures.
Finally copy Forest play both DCL and Namecheck up top against Burnley from the off and blow them away early, then bring Okafor on who struggles after 50 mins it seems.

Points I've made separately and totally agree with, Class!
