Didn't expect to win this game but we did have chances in first part, DCL has to score it, poor miss
Poor ref again, a stamp that didn't get looked at, handball, seen them given this season
We have come along nicely since last city game and think team are doing fantastic and feel we will stay up, be nice if can and improve squad further.
Thought cherki was very good, finds great space and makes things tick, wish we had that player, not since Pablo and siaz, also rutter a little bit too, don't think BUONATTE is fitting in as that role.
Bring on Sunderland, if we can keep playing as we are, we should beat them.

Def need to beat Sunderland. 👍

It matters not how much a team costs. It's all about points. We played very well today. But there is no denying we coulda shoulda been 3 up by 30 min. Atrocious misses by the out of form dcl and ba.
They cost us that game. Simple. Fair point re Rodon too. He visibly slowed down for the cross. Should have stopped it. Good saves by goalie today. Well done mate. Disappointed to lose after generally playing so well.

Couple of great saves for sure! Huge credit to Darlow, as he's clearly been working hard on other areas of his game too.

Excellent performance by the team today. Yes we can pick on a few errors here and there but overall, what a game.
We also broke a record. Man city touched the ball in the opponent box at the latest time in Premier League history. Us. A newly promoted team.
However, the game was marred by two handballs not given, a stamp on Gruev that should have been a red and a tackle on JJ that should have been a red.

I agree, Mo. I thought the team were brilliant, and all fans should rightly be proud. The application, drive and desire was everything we ask for from our team, and we rattled Citeh from the very first whistle. Yes, there were a few mistakes, but this team has been assembled on a budget, as opposed to those extravagantly created with open cheque books, so there are going to be errors across 90mins.
Farke has done an incredible job with this squad.
01 Mar 2026 07:22:07
This was a top team in this League. We played well for most of the game. Don't be downplaying our team. They all played well and fought hard, and gave a great account of themselves, just another day at the office.
01 Mar 2026 07:37:42
Just like to add, I hope City win it, not Arsenal.
01 Mar 2026 08:54:00
After the cheating I saw yesterday, I hope Arsenal and Lego head win it. They're the better team. When is stamping on a player after the whistle has gone, not a red card?
01 Mar 2026 10:23:15
My perfect scenario (though I despise both teams and what they stand for) is City winning it, just so we see Arteta implode again. Then, after the event, City are docked points and relegated. I'm no great fan of Villa, but they've disappointed again.
01 Mar 2026 11:02:30
No stamping, Mo. Yes, he stood on his leg, but a stamp is very different, and if cheating is the standard to decide who wins, I hope Arsenal get relegated.

Why didn't Rodon cut that pass out? You could see him back off!

28 Feb 2026 19:36:34
I think the pace on the pass done him?
28 Feb 2026 21:05:09
Well, I guess we are going to concede, lads. I guess the thing really is that we need to start converting some of our chances.
{Ed025's Note - you just have to keep the work ethic and commitment going Vid and i think you will be ok..the good thing is that you wont be playing the likes of City anymore this season mate..

I think Burnley fans are resigned to being relegated and looking forward to a season without VAR. 😂 There's been no change in the relative standings today, and West Ham are still some way back. We've got Man United to play, but the majority of the rest of the fixtures are against teams in the bottom half.
It's all in our hands and we are more than capable of moving up the table. This is a far better team than the one that was relegated.
{Ed025's Note - absolutely mate..
01 Mar 2026 10:04:44
On MOTD, Shearer suggested that the reason the 1st one was disallowed was because it was the Burnley player's shoulder and upper arm that were offside, and those are parts of the body one can score with. If he had later done just that, all the Brentford team would've been screaming for handball.
28 Feb 2026 16:28:30
I'm not knocking DF but I find it strange he's once again left out Bijol?
Since he broke in to the team he has been our best defender but after a short time out injured he can't get back in the side. Is it a case of favouritism once more?

I suppose, if a player gets injured and another comes in and does well it's hard to drop him.
28 Feb 2026 17:11:59
Thing is Corkey, the options are good and performing, so do you disrupt that? Rodon and Struik seem to have a good relationship, and JJ has been great. What do you do? But what an option from the bench!
28 Feb 2026 20:15:38
Call me ole fashioned, Vid, but you play your best players. The lads did fairly well today, but Gruev, and especially Amps, were poor. Let's bash Sunderland on Tuesday.
01 Mar 2026 07:46:27
Don't get me wrong either, as Jaka is a great signing and top player. He'd been out, and maybe wasn't being risked for a full match. Either way, imo, JJ offers something else when he pushes up into midfield, as he's technically more adept, can pick a pass, and has a good understanding with Boges.
He also offers that continuity in defence when a change is made, like yesterday, so that the undoubted "unsettling" of the defence is minimised. I really think that JJ is proving to be our new Stuart Dallas!
01 Mar 2026 10:42:51
I agree, Brighty, on JJ. In fact I would say he's been our best player since he came into the team a few months back. Rodon and Struick, however, are not undroppable imo. Bijol is a better defender than both.

Need to go with 2 up top lewin and nmecha, if we go with 1 striker we haven't got a chance, always go with 2.

Totally agree, dude, always 2 up. Would kinda like to see Willy get a chance at 10.

Breaking news, Haaland not in MC squad today - maybe didn't want to play against the team from the city of his birth.
27 Feb 2026 19:08:51
With all the recent talk about the time restrictions for throw ins, on the subject I wonder what others thought about the range of Ampadu's throws and whether they are effective.
For me he's just short of throwing it far enough to cause a problem, relies on flick ons to be any good in my estimation.
The talk of 5 seconds for a throw ins will end Ampadu's ritual of drying the ball etc which is more like 30 seconds plus.

27 Feb 2026 21:26:10
Don't think it will happen tbh.
When would the timer start, how would it be monitored, and by whom, and what happens when 99% of throw-ins go to the defenders because there's insufficient player movement on the pitch in 5 seconds? Plus, how frustrating would it be for fans when throw-ins keep getting "turned over" to the opposition, maybe even back-to-back? Another Stoooooopid idea from the power people! (Sorry OP for only picking up on that 1 aspect of your post!)
28 Feb 2026 05:45:07
I agree, Bright. It is a ridiculous idea, the 5 seconds bit. But what could be done is it could be deemed as time wasting, God forbid, at the referee's discretion, like with goal kicks when it's taking a noticeably long time.
But I was more wondering about the effectiveness of long throw-ins, especially by Amps, which I think are a bit short of causing havoc in the area.
28 Feb 2026 07:05:05
I think it's more about getting the ball into the penalty area and seeing what happens. Maybe a bit shy of the danger zone. But if a short throw is taken there, there is less chance of getting into the penalty area. I think that's got to be the goal. If you get my drift.
28 Feb 2026 07:31:16
I'll jump to your main bit now, OP. 😃 I think you're right; he's about a yard and 1/2 off causing mayhem. The first touch / flick on is vital, as we've seen. I do, however, see its usefulness tactically, even when it doesn't create a scoring chance. It makes the opposition revert to full defensive formation.
We get the initiative, and are on the front foot. And, cynically, and bang in line with the context of your post, it takes up time. In our position, that's something I've noticed more and more - taking time when it's beneficial.
28 Feb 2026 09:26:17
For me, work out the average time the ball was in play last season, around 65ish mins I think I read. Move the timer up a little, for example 70/80mins, then, when the ball goes out of play, stop the timer. This means long throw-ins can take 30 seconds to sort himself out, with no consequence for the losing team.
I think that's what they do in rugby, and I guess it works? Also, when a player is down injured, let the physio come on whilst the game is playing. If the injury is serious, the physio can stop the game, but then the timer stops and the player must be substituted.
28 Feb 2026 10:35:39
Agree, Amps throws a couple yards short. Only time they cause problems is when Bijol is playing, because he wins every first header to flick on.
28 Feb 2026 13:31:53
Banning long throws was going to happen if it was a useful tactic against the top six clubs. Though, in reality, keepers are only meant to have the ball for 8 seconds, and look how well that's enforced.
