WTF - I give up - if the rumour of signing Jadon Anthony for 25 million quid are true - Underwood and Farke should be dismissed immediately - Its a joke!

If we get Ryan Kent as well, its a bumper transfer window.

I know Anthony has done well at Burnley, but would he move us up the league, Nope. I hope it's just click bait.

2.) 02 Feb 2026 09:22:12
I'm pretty sure that one is the most far fetched journo garbage we've seen in recent years. I agree with you, it is an actual joke, just not a funny one!

3.) 02 Feb 2026 09:37:16
Speaking to a Burnley fan they're not convinced. Not consistent enough with only the odd flashes. Sounds like his time with us. Won't happen.

4.) 02 Feb 2026 10:42:07
The Burnley fan reckons only two good players. Esteve and Dubravka who has been there best so far.

How many times do we "almost" sign a player, only at the last moment to be beaten. Our Plan B will probably be another free transfer who can't get a game in the Champoinship? Happens every transfer window it seems to me.

That is a hefty figure for JSL and to be honest, I'm pleased Leeds won't be taking that expensive gamble.
Just wondering, with Fulham bringing in a new attacker, have Leeds turned towards Harry Wilson again ??.

2.) 29 Jan 2026 11:57:48
That is an eye watering amount of dosh especially considering where his game is at the moment, half of that would still have been a gamble. Glad we got priced out really.

3.) 29 Jan 2026 12:05:20
yep - £50m for a 1 in 4 striker is ridiculous.

4.) 29 Jan 2026 12:08:26
Not too sure we have a Plan B?
I believe we saw an opportunity to potentially get the lad at a good price considering Wolves most likely relegation and it never worked out that way.
Newcastle were in for him during the summer at circa 50 million and Wolves have stuck at their valuation which was a dangerous game but fair play to them.

Palace, Hammers and probably Forest all getting in a new striker this window. Our rivals are strengthening in the most important position. Will we do the same? Looking unlikely now.

5.) 29 Jan 2026 12:17:55
Firstly I am glad we are missing out on JSL. £50m is a ridiculous free for him, £40m arguably to much as well. But, as Joburg says, we often spend virtually all of a window chasing a player who we are never really going to get, as we did with Paxio in the last window.

We are in a good position now to survive, so I hope to see some transfer activity before the window closes to strengthen the squad for the run in.

6.) 29 Jan 2026 12:34:22
That a nut in a shell all above. Glad we didn’t sign him. Unlike others we are not desperate cause we on the up ( ed says ) . Think he will get injured first two games anyway. We now have three days to sign a cheaper better striker. Centre back and lb cover.
Do not go to bed yet.

7.) 29 Jan 2026 12:38:19
Wolves laughing their heads off getting double what they paid for a bang average player. He could be playing against Wolves next season the way Palace are going.

8.) 29 Jan 2026 13:09:10
Not that we would have ever paid £50million but I’m genuinely surprised the lad has chosen Palace, who are in free fall just now,

If you take out Glasner and Matteta goals (when he’s gone) and Wharton will likely have many suitors, and they’re really not a good side and will return to the lower half, bottom of the league once more.

Think we should still cancel JSL’s Agent’s season ticket, just for a laugh.

9.) 29 Jan 2026 13:45:20
Or give hm a free ticket next year for getting us out of an overpriced deal and simultaneously screwing one of our competitors.

31 Jan 2025 16:33:51
I don't want to appear negative about our recruitment policy - but we have clearly as a management group learned nothing from previous windows - I cannot understand why leaving potential signings to the last minute is a good strategy - we can either afford a player or not - or am I missing something in my old age?

1.) 31 Jan 2025 17:12:47
Personally I think it’s a calculated risk by the owners. Buying now would increase the likelihood of relegation next season. Whoever we buy now is going to be overpriced and a lower standard than we can buy as a PL team.

With PSR we can’t buy in a position now and then upgrade again in the Summer. So not buying now gives us a bigger budget to spend in the Summer on a higher quality of player.

Basically I see it as spend now, increase likelihood of promotion but we’ll come back down. Don’t spend, but trust we have the quality to go up, and then build a better team that might have more of a fighting chance of survival.

2.) 31 Jan 2025 18:23:17
Was thinking the same, they'll try get promotion with the squad we have, then hopefully spend big.

3.) 31 Jan 2025 19:03:00
? on the ?️ Brockers.

4.) 31 Jan 2025 19:27:13
It’s a huge call either way, go up and come back down is a vicious loop, but one that is cushioned by the parachute payments, this season we received £40.1 million pounds, whereas due to increased tv rights Burnley, Blunts, received £49.1 million.

Now, nobody wants to be a yo yo team, but at least your club maintains liquidity but IF you don’t go up, and the parachute payments come to an end and you lose your best players…….

We know PSR can be offset with the stadium developments, potential naming rights etc.

I’m not saying we will not be promoted (I think we will go up, but is that my heart ruling my head) but I think Louie Barry would have made sense, let’s see how he does at Hull, but we could possibly enhance our chances with another AO level type find, fully appreciate it’s not an easy window in January .

However, we cannot only consider the potential impact upon promotion, if we fall short again this season, it’s a very different outlook, based on upon an ever decreasing amount of income.

5.) 31 Jan 2025 19:35:44
Let's look at the facts we are top of the league. We have cover for all positions just about.
What do we expect we are going to improve our squad with?
A loan for 3 months that might or might not get minutes. Or a permanent Player that might not be prem ready.
Our competitors have strengthened because they needed to. We don't really it's just we could.
Nobody moves in January to sit on the bench.

6.) 31 Jan 2025 20:15:01
Superb post Brock.
And just to add we are top of the table with current squad and the squad is most likely settled.
In saying that I wouldn’t be averse to a good experienced keeper to give the back line more security.

7.) 31 Jan 2025 20:16:51
Just re read your post Brock and I must admit it’s the most logical I’ve read on here for ages. Top man.

8.) 31 Jan 2025 22:14:34
It’s a big gamble get promoted no one will remember it don’t get promoted big problems many are call for his head now man it will be unbearable.
Can’t see him being at Leeds if he doesn’t get the club up.

9.) 31 Jan 2025 23:07:09
I don’t agree with brocks post at all.
There is no guarantee we will go up top or not. It’s too close to call and a gamble not strengthening now.
And if we do go up it’s not a given that we will come back down. There is always the other two that went up and the new prem failures that can take the bottom three.

I think what we have is good enough to go up. But what if we lose piroe or Rodon to injury. The replacements are not good enough.
Probably too late now. They made up their mind early that they were willing to gamble.

10.) 31 Jan 2025 23:49:50
100% Aus.

11.) 01 Feb 2025 08:55:06
As I said Aus it’s a calculated risk and buying now increases the likelihood of promotion.

If we go up, it more likely we go down if we strengthen now (and again in the summer) than if we do it all in the Summer. Again not saying it’s guaranteed we go down or stay up in either scenario.

The owners have, seemingly, chosen the risk of not investing now, which I think is the more ambitious medium to long term route (as it sets us up better for PL stability) , than the short term route of buying players now (and hoping they gel and get promotion - again far from guaranteed) . Of course if we go up and they don’t invest in the Summer, then they have no ambition!

Personally I think they’ve chosen the right route (but one or two high quality loans wouldn’t go amiss) .

12.) 01 Feb 2025 09:46:11
Def couple loans help brockley. Bit of a happy ending never hurts anybody.

18 Aug 2023 14:09:35
Our new owners clearly have a successful background in running a sporting business etc
Apart from Mr Farke, does anybody on this forum think that anybody in an influential position knows anything about football? Sorry meant soccer!

Joburgwhite

1.) 18 Aug 2023 15:58:08
I seem to recall that in his interview on LUTV, Maranthe said he’d been following the game since he was young, Pete Lowy’s been a Leeds fan since he was a kid growing up in Oz and his Dad ran a football team then ran the Aussie football association. And of course, Kinnear has been involved in the running of various football clubs for at least 18 years. Additionally, Nick Hammond was a professional GK in the lower leagues (mainly as second/ third choice) but has been involved in technical/ director roles since 2000 and Gretar Steinsson was a professional footballer for 15 seasons (including 3 at Bolton) and capped by Iceland 46 times before moving into technical/ director roles in 2018. But apart from that, no-one in an influential position knows a huge amount about football.

how many times have we heard commentators say that Leeds don't deserve to be behind - we play pretty stuff but lack physicality right through the team.

Don't think we have any cash to spend at all. We have to make savings before we can spend anything at all. Bielsa will be gone in a month

it seems to me that the ref on VAR hardly ever criticise their mate on the pitch - ex players should be on VAR.

Agreed Bamford is scared to get hurt in the penalty area - Ref was bullied by Arsenal players today and lost control.

its always difficult in January when Players and Agents don't know who will be in charge at end of season. If MB walks away (and he will) I'm concerned about the next window - Big names will go as well and a rebuilding will be necessary - so much for steady and continuous development.

Completely agree with you, but don't forget to add Bielsa and the coaching team to the escape party at the end of the season. we'll be back to square one probably.

I think Bielsa made a tactical error after Spurs equalised - Up to then we were doing Ok with an understrength team. Immediately after the equaliser we bought on Firpo for Forshaw and played musical chairs with Kal, Pascal and others. This led to us losing our way and went onto the back foot. If Forshaw was not injured why take him off?
